Hey guys. I need help so bad. I have a pair of sir fancis bacons right now... until my tip broke :( It has a bend in the tip, basically cosmetic but still bad on the support since they are flimsy anyways. But as I was saying, I need help really bad. Both the skis I have in mind are sick as fuck but I just need help deciding. I am 5'10, 180 lbs, (trying to cut to 160ish) and my home mountain is Cyrstal mountain Washington. I am more of a backcountry and cliff dropper but Ive been teaching my girlfriend on blue squares and shit every once in a while so I do need a little versatile ski, so maybe a shorter hellbent? oh and if it helps, when i say back country I mean well 1, cliffs and stuff, but also back country park jumps. thanks guys.

Take a look at the on3p caylor. I ride them at crystal and thru are perfect for tr conditions. I'm about your size and I ride a 181, which I sometimes feel is a bit short, but if you want something a bit more versatile it would be perfect for you

Have you ridden the Hellbents? New shape or old one? Please quantify... I've skied the old ones, the new ones and the Line EP Pro and the new Hellbent was the best, by a decent margin. I'd hardly say they suck, in fact in deep, deep snow I reckon they kick ass.

k2 pettitor coming next year might be your answer. has a bit of camber, making it more athletic than the hellbent, and a stiff flex.

This thread is stupid, you're not even comparing similar ski's. One is an irrelevant oversized donkey dick, and the other is a more modern design. Though I agree with the people suggesting Caylor's.

powder skis with rocker? best pow ski? ok yeah they must not be similar at all. and people say 118 is such a difference from 132. look on a tape measure. 5.2 from 4.6. and have you ridden any of them?

the mount (if i remember correctly) is -1.5 from true center

Completely different rocker profile, completely different shape, completely different width. Means they ski completely different. Sorry but you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground.

This. Figure out what type of skiing you want to do and what type of ski you want, find models that fit the bill, look for deals, buy one.

the hellbent is an outdated ski design, and a shitty one at that. anyone who actually likes them needs to try a similar ski in a different brand, and you'll never want to look at hellbents again.

What about it? It's a decent ski with a modern design, it could use a little more stiffness in the tips and tails for my liking, under foot the flex is solid. But it kind of gave up when the Cascade Concrete set up chunky. I would not compare it to a Hellbent.

Since your question was Hellbents or Opus im just going to reply on what you want to know and not suggest a bunch of other skis and/or bash on anything. I think you will like the Opus more. My home mountian is Stevens pass and The pow up here isnt the Fluffyest. The Opus is MUCH more versitle than the Hellbent. And really it can tear up the groomers. The most Pop Ive ever felt in a ski, SO fun. I think that if you are comparing the Hellbent or Opus, OPUS all the way.

I have last years model hellbent and i absolutely love them, i live in montana i love dropping big cliffs and they are super flexy so even my skinny ass can mess around on them, then again i do weigh about 145or so 5,7. don't know if that helps but i do enjoy riding my hell bents a lot.

Mentioned this ski in a similar post a few days ago, the 2013 Atomic Automatic is one of the best skis any of us here at TSM have ever skied.
