How long do you keep your skis? plus a question

Hey NS, I was wondering how many seasons do you personally keep the same pair of skis? Each season, each two seasons? Do you change them, because of the damage? or because you just want another pair?

My question to all of you is that I have a blown edge on my ski and the water already did some damage to the ski. The damage being a ''cut'' between the p-tex and the ski itself. Anyway, I am going to fix it soon but was wondering how much life is remaining in my skis? This was my first season using them and said skis are Salomon twenty twelves. Also I have maybe 3-4 inches of blown edge.

Mine usually only last a year regardless they always seem to fall apart.

i've had my anthems for 3 seasons, i can't afford new skis every year so can justify the cost when they break. the edge of my anthem blew out under one foot this week and the base is peeling, i'm going to plug the gap and smooth off the base

there is always a solution

I'm actually riding on some 4 years old chronics because I snapped my 2 years old domains... it all depends on how hard you ski and how good your ski is.

This is the third season I've had my Volkl bridges, but they're beat to hell and I only use them for work now (ski instructor). My Step Ups I bought this november, my underdogs I bought last march, and my S7s I bought in February. I'll keep them all until they're destroyed.

Normally I go through 2 or 3 pairs a season, edges blow out, base gets screwed, I have snapped a few pairs...I'm really hard on my skis so they tend to just break.


However, this season my Filthy Riches made it though the entire season, I'd say about 85 days, pretty much all rails...they're bombproof. I'm getting another pair simply because I want a longer size, cause otherwise these things are still good to go.

maybe you were a shitty skier? but in all reality...moment is an awesome company and if u had a problem with their skis they would absolutely try their best to make you happy...at least they did for me in their early years, cant imagine their customer service has changed at all

3 seasons right now, defiantly getting new ones next year, after 3 they are bound to break, mine are hardly staying together.

haha, wasn't planning on selling them, they'll make a decent backup ski for when I get lazy and don't wax my skis, but if I do decide to sell them, I'll let you know.

.Well, I buy a pair of ski each year, sometime 2 pair a year. This year i bought some park ski for this season and the next one. Next year I'm buying some pow ski and race stick. But I have some incredible deal , that's why. But my ski last like 2 years max, my 4frnt after a year

I've been buying one per year. not because i need to, but just because i'm terrible at resisting sales. I could get another year out of my coreupts but i bought into the moment 60 percent off deal. It couldn't be the worst thing in the world to have two pairs of skis though

On my third pair this season :/

They usually last about 1-2 years but I'll generally switch to a new pair half to three quarters of a way through the season.

had some trouble makers for about 3 years at around 35ish days of skiing a year...and I ski mainly park. Only about 50% of the edges were on them, countless chips out of them and the center base was almost gone. IMO I don't notice a change when switching from old skis to new skis that much. So I wouldn't get new ones every season ....or every few months like some of these pros do.

i only got 18 days out of my punisher jibs this year, bought them in january when my old skis broke and needed new ones in early march cause there were no edges left underfoot and the dude at the shop said i couldnt ski on them for safety reasons and such. so technicalyy i went through 3 pairs in the 4 month season. i ski really hard on nearly all rails so theyre bound to break i guess

I have had my current setup (181 Boone Magic Sticks) for 2 seasons now, with minimal damage. Definitely got my moneys worth picking them up for mad cheap, even though a lot of people had quality issues.

I'm getting rid of my OG AR7s, (2 years old) because I want bigger skis. Armada has amazing durability, if they weren't too small I'd keep using them

i get new park skis every other season, and powder sticks every other 2 cause those dont touch rails.

ive had my pair ( my first pair) for a year and a half now and there actaully going suprisingly strong. there head blackjacks which i dont think are that good and the bindings suck but ive never skiied anything else properly so i dont know. i ski dryslope most weeks at least once and snow now and then and i have little edge damage, although there is quite a few core shots and base scratches or bits missing, but they still work.

been on my 05/06 rossi scratchs now for 3 seasons with 150+ days plus like another 30 days worth of wear or so cos i ski dryslope alot (UK) had to get my first base repair this season after hanging up on a flat-gap-down rail and im going to carry them on until they are run into the ground. seems they dont make skis like they used to (with exceptions)

i got a season and a half out of my afterbangs and i will probably be getting domains so i hope they last longer. the afterbangs were a real dissapointment...

after one season my afterbangs are still in good condition. my pow boards just went through season three but i barely touched them this year.

use to be every year

but next year ill be going onto my 4th year with some of my on3p's, and i expect them to last even longer then that

I know right, I have the 06 silencers. I used them on my summer set up before i took it down. After that thought they stayed in the elements for 2 straight years and are still skiable.

My K2 Made'n AKs have around 150-180 days from the past 5 seasons.

My Addict pros are probably around 50-60 days over the past three seasons, they're donezo now though.

i still have OG disorderlys. Won't get rid of them till i actually can't ski them. So if they snap or i really fuck them up somehow.

your season = 30 days
my season = 160 days
Usually bust out new everyday skis in late Dec/ Jan. Those will last me the rest of the season, and usually use those as rock boards for early season the next winter.
This year broke out a new pair of High Society Classics (park ski) first week of the season and even though it was one of the worst snow years in history, they are still in pretty good shape after 120 ish days . Sadly only used my pow boards about 10 times.

It depends on how long your season is. Mine lasted 3 mn seasons before part of the edge peeled out.
