At 2pm everyone convened at the Blackcomb halfpipe for an amazing on hill ceremony. Players from way back in the day, past to present were all there. Good friends that have moved on from skiing and good friends that are still involved in skiing got together to say one last goodbye, shed a tear and truly realize how tight we all are in this sport. We all paid our respects and strapped on the skis for one last private jam for Sarah. WhistlerBlackcomb was gracious enough to groom the pipe better than any WSI has ever seen and left it closed until after the ceremony.
After everyones tears had dried, one of the most awe inspiring halfpipe sessions proceeded to go down. All the bros from baaaack in the day put their skis on, felt the love in the air and started to throw down for Sarah. Boys that have not laid a track in the pipe for years, started skiing like it was the superhit contest of 03-04. People like McMurray, who has moved on to another passion in his life threw signature alley-hoop flat mute 5's, Turpin, Biollo, Austin Ross, Kev Labatte, Margetts, Bibby, Petit, Riddle, Chug, pretty much anyone who was in this game from ten years ago was skiing and throwing down like it was yesterday. The absolute most amazing thing was Rory putting down a 9 at the top of the pipe, just like his beatiful wife would and stomping the piss out of it. I felt fear standing on the deck on drop-in, but as soon as i entered the pipe, I had this overwhelming sense of good positive energy, and proceeded to put down my comp run from 04, and put everything to my boots. Sarah was with all of us that day, im absolutely positive about it. I just want to say to all you guys, that hands down that was the best day I have ever experienced in the pipe with you guys, not for the level of tricks, but the positive energy we all all felt, you all know who you are and I thank you. The fact that time separates us all in the path of life we take, but that day was a true sign that we are all connected at the heart and soul of skiing.
Thank you Sarah, for an amazing day, an amazing life and a beautiful passion for everything and everyone around you.
RIP
