I'm heavily considering upgrading to a tripod that will last me for decades into my professional career. My little Libec LS22 worked for casual stuff but it is certainly nothing special.
I'm ready to take the plunge for a real tripod system.
Sachtler seems to be the way to go with my budget being $1500. I'd rather spend closer to $1000 though.
My current setup is an HDSLR, rails (and handles/shoulder support), follow focus, Videomic Pro on camera, and a decently heavy set of lenses.
This weighs in at around 9 lbs.
Initially I was looking at the Sachtler FSB4 but I believe I am just above the maximum payload with this setup. I also probably want to make sure this is future proof (not sure I'd ever go much more than 9 pounds though.....)
I also read that Sachtler legs leave a lot to be desired. Even the Carbon Fiber Speedlocks apprently. Would I be better off buying JUST a head and then putting them on Miller Solo legs or something like that?
There's also the wildcard Vinten Vision Blue that a ton of people love. The legs are supposedly SOLID.
