Fuck you smart boards...help recovering itunes library? +K

So a couple weeks ago I downloaded the smart notebook software on my mac so that I could make lesson plans for the SmartBoards at the school I'm student teaching at. Well according to the Geniuses at the Apple store, it fried my hard drive. (This is what I get for trying to be on top of educational technology haha.) Everything was lost, and now the one shred of hope I'm holding onto is that somehow I will be able to transfer all of the music from my iPhone to my macbook.

I've searched google, and a LOT of programs show up. I however am coming to NSG to ask if anybody has any that they can personally speak for? I will give as much karma as I can. I lost everything...all of my school work from the last 4 years of college, (lesson plans, resume...) all of my lesson plans including all of the lesson plans for the next week that I spent hours and hours on, all of my photos...please help me save at least my music. I will be forever grateful.

And on top of fuck smart boards, fuck me too for never backing anything up. :(

If anybody can help me out, I would really really appreciate it.

Right now I'm teaching 9th grade Global History, and an Cultural Anthropology class which is a 10-12 elective. At the other school I taught at I did 10th grade Global History, and 11th grade U.S. History and Government. 8 weeks at each school.

So you have everything on your phone? I might be missing something here but can't you transfer data from phone>computer? I've done it once or twice a few years back.

Also I'm not a fan of smart boards either. Have one in my classroom and it's stupid. Only good for taking notes and watching videos

haha thanks prairiesteeze^.

But I have most of my music on my phone, but that's about it. I asked about it at the apple store and they said I'd be able to "redownload" anything that I had bought from the itunes store...and let's be honest that's not going to work. I'm not sure however, if its possible to just plug it in and have everything copied from my iPhone to my itunes. I have this fear of plugging it in, and it getting wiped haha.

Okay so if you plug in your phone DO NOT PRESS SYNC. make sure auto sync is off etc. look up top in one of those menus (file, edit, etc). I'm pretty sure it's under "store". There should be something like transfer purchases, that might be what you're looking for. DISCLAIMER: I haven't done this since like 2009. Google first

I've had to do this with an iPod, not an iPhone. Assuming it works the same way you can use this program. I did it a long time ago, and this article is old, but it's worth trying.

Alright thanks man, I appreciate it. Anybody else know of any good programs? I see one called Senuti, however its only a 1000 song free trial, and then anything else is $18.99. I suppose I could try it out, and then pay if it works. But just wondering if anybody else knows any alternatives.

There are free options out there. When I did it I used a free program. I forget what it was called though. Keep googling the relevant keywords and you should find a free program that does this.

It's really annoying how Apple prevents you from seeing hidden files on your phone. They're your files, you should be able to see them and do what you please with them. However, if you jailbreak your phone, you should be able to access all the songs on it. Unfortunately, I don't know about the current state of jailbreaking.

i dont know if this works on macs, but i know on winblows you can go into your control panel and i think under apperance of files or something along those lines theres an option to view hidden files, these files contain all the music on your phone when its plugged in, and the you can just transfer all of it through draggin and droppin but i really dont know if macs even allow you the option to view hidden files, worth a try though cause then you wouldnt have to download anything, also if you use a cloud and put everything from your phone into the cloud then sync the cloud up with your computer that might work.. good luck!

google chrome: Y U NO LET ME EMBED?!?! http://guides.macrumors.com/Viewing_hidden_files_on_a_Mac that should help view the files then just drag and drop into desktop or itunes or whatever, just make sure auto sync is OFF
