trying to make my own... does anyone think this ( http://www.talcospecialties.com/Ratchet-Strap-2-inch.aspx ) material would work or should i just get a kit

it is but be weary of using a regular ratchet strap since they aren't locking. too much tension and it will release

i thinking the ones used for trucking in the link might hold better than gibbons ratchet... ill look into it tho

guarantee they wont. gibbon's ratchets are locking, trucking ones aren't

1" is pretty "standard," i think all (or most?) gibbon lines are 2" though
i've actually never used a gibbon line before, so i can't comment on those.
i learned on 1" with no problems

yeah it could work i think though if you go that route be sure to buy some extra webbing to be able to get the ratchet end around the tree. know what im saying?

anyways kits are worth it, i have a gibbon jibline and its dope. but i got it discounted otherwise i would have bought 1 " webbing off REI website.
