I'm think about getting a smartphone, but I'm stuck on how much data I will need to buy.

So I ask you NS, how much data do you consume on average every month?

~a gig but if you keep it connected to wi-fi when you're at home or at homies it can be considerably less

If you get a blackberry a 500Mb/month rate is fine as RIM compacts the data, to go over that you basically have to have it streaming youtube for the full month non stop.

I've never used more than a couple of gigs and that's with pretty high volume usage...as in I had it tethered to my laptop and was streaming netflix non stopped for like 15 hours in the month.
