Which mountains breed the best skiers?

just curious,

me and my roommate we're talking about this and I wanted to get your guys opinions

i think that either Park City or Breck breeds the best freestylers, but as far as big mountain skiing goes, i dont think there is one.



what ch'all think?

i agree with you on the park city and breck. i know a handful of park city skiers/snowboarders who go to my school and they already have solid sponsors or just slay it. I also think that Little Cottonwood Canyon (Snowbird/Alta) produces quite a few of top notch big mountain skiers

Red Mountain, BC has a pretty high standard for "good" skiers, with a handful of "pros" calling Rossland "home", but in Canada, Whistler is boss without a question.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Squaw has a pretty decent history for breeding rippers, as well as Jackson Hole. I've always been under the understanding that Bridger Bowl has a high standard for "good" skiers as well, but it doesn't seam to produce as many "pros" as other hills.

Jackson Hole, squaw, Revy, Silverton/wolf creek, and alyeska. If you grow up on those mountains, your juvenile curiosity may lead you to push yourself on the much harder terrain.

Mammoth, Whistler, PC, Breck/Keystone, There's a ton of pro's from Vernon (idk which mountain that is),
Are, mostly all other big European/Scandinavian ski resorts. Lots from the east coast too, like Killington, Mt. Snow, etc.


Also my hill, cause I'm the best skier on the mountain

haven't been alot of places, but crested butte locals warm up on steep lines that I shit my pants on trying to go down

there are countless skiers that you have never heard of at both resorts that grew up there and are on par with most major "pros".

for overall performance I'd say Whistler/Blackcomb or skiers out of the SLC area

the same can be said about many many other resorts. you have to base this off something.

also look at the million Breck edits that come out each winter. 4/5 of them are from people who moved there.


also show me an edit or two of local skiers who grew up at either of those resorts who I've never heard of who are on par with the big names. do it.

chamonix or la grave by far, there are unknown locals over there that are right up there with the worlds top pros. The amount of knowledge that you need to learn over there just to move through the mountains is immense. In my and many other peoples opinions, a lot of Chamonix lines make stuff in AK look easy. As far as north america goes, id have to say whistler/pemberton, although im a bit biased here. But weve got some very large and very steep mountains here, and theres just too many pros to count that came out of here.

Mountains in Quebec in my opinion (I might be biased) breed the best rail skiers. It's also true about the style.

Look at the US and Canadian Olympic teams, then ask where they are all from. Canada = Montreal/Whistler US = I don't think any 2 are from the same place (im probably wrong) even though some are now living in the same places.

Big mountain... Jackson/Revelstoke/Sierras/Silverton/AK...... I don't think there is a good way of figuring this one out.

For Canada probably Whistler, but Quebec has rails/style for sure. nothing improves the style better than shitty snow, small ass jumps and fuck tons of gapers watching you

All ridiculous all around skiers. I'm sure there's a couple more. Spent my first year after racing and high school at MSU skiing bridger 3days/week and it's definitely made me the all around skier I am today.

But personally (I am biased) I think the EC puts out some of the most unique and respectable riders. Tons of kids from Breck, Key, PC, etc. absolutely slay, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're worthy of being sponsored. You don't get sponsored by being good at skiing, you get sponsored by marketing yourself, your image, being a good person, working hard, and putting your best foot forward.

this is very true.

never been there, but i've seen COUNTLESS edits of kids that are on par with most pros nowadays/of kids who have multiple sponsors absolutely killing it at Perfect North. i want to hit their park so badly...

Chris Laker came from Perfect North am I right?
