It doesnt work like that. I understand its not a big deal in the videography/communications/graphic design etc etc world but its something that will follow you if you want a career in certain fields. Applying for medical school? Write down everytime you have been arrested, no matter if the case was thrown out, expunged, or you were a juvenile. Want your RN license? Better not have ever had handcuffs on you, because the background check is much much more thorough than many anticipate.
Want to become a cop or firefighter? I'm guessing you dont Evan, but I suggest you maybe google the polygraph process for those jobs. I was asked if I liked to "fuck animals when no one would catch me" when applying for a fire job. I'm not making this up. The same goes for many other careers that you wouldn't have thought were so stringent. Again, not something that is likely to ruin his life, but it absolutely can be a hindrance that could potentially keep you from something you really wanted to do.
