i go to a mega gay private christian high school, but it's a college prep school and it's pretty good education-wise, way better than the public school in my area (Detroit schools suck ass). I'm pretty smart, but with school I don't learn anything, I just can't focus on the person talking and even if i do I don't learn from it. My schools starting an online school, next year will be it's second year. I'm thinking of transferring to the online school for my junior and maybe senior year. I live right by the school and I would be able to come to an art class or something on campus if I really wanted. The thing is, I don't really know, much about how online schooling works, is there anyone on here that have gone to an online school that could share some knowledge/advice?
I'm in college and have some classes where the material is presented in addition to online. I find that even though going to class sometimes sucks and is boring as hell, you still get a better understanding of the material listening to someone talk about it. Additionally, I didn't feel like I learned much in high school either but later when your in college you realize that a lot of stuff you do in high school directly relates to stuff in college classes. I would stay in normal high school, especially if you go to a nicer private school that can prepare you for college better.
I've taken an online chemistry class one summer back in high school, worst decision ever.
It's really un-motivating, and sure it was pretty easy but I NEVER FINISHED IT. If you have good self-discipline then go for it. If you doubt yourself, I recommend you going to an actual school.
I transferred into an alternative school and about 60 percent of the classes are online. The one problem i have is how fast they teach/move you through it. Im constantly having to go ask for help.
I take online college classes at ACC in denver but I am currently at a private high school in denver. All of my classes are online and our super easy to understand but there is a crap ton of busy work! hope this helped. Go for it bro if that is what you want!
Last year I switched to online highschool, I'll try to make this short. I live in central new york and have been going to live at my uncles house in Lake Tahoe to ski for the past few winters. Transferring from school to school was a bitch, and if I wanted to pursue becoming a skier, I would need to be skiing almost everyday in the winter. I switched to online HS out of carson city and it was an extremely good decision. I am a junior and have taken classes like chem, alg 2, etc online and haven't had a problem. It is flexible enough so I an compete all over the country, as most days I can get all my work done in a couple hours. One thing would be missing the interaction with all the other kids in a normal school, but the positives out weigh the negatives by a ton. Basically, if your self motivated enough to get your lazy ass to actually work for 2-3 hours a day, as well as an outgoing, social person, I would say go for it. Definitely at least give it a try for a while, you can always switch back.
This, I found it extremely difficult to remember assignments and what not. Don't take online courses unless you are extremely motivated and organized. For me I need that structure in the classroom.
Thanks for the responses guys, seems like it works well for some people and horribly for others. I might take a course over the summer and see how I like it
i also go to a mega gay catholic all boys military school, i hate almost all the people that go there, but if you look at it one way their setting you up well, plus i got one more year left of it then im g-g-g-g-g-gone.
