Spartan Races are pretty much a joke. If you want to run a real event, try Tough Mudder.

My friend did one and won even though he wasn't necessarily good at the obstacles. He was like a 15:20 5k guy though. He won a sick viking helmet at the one he did. I really want to try one though.

Or you could run a "real" real event and sign up for a marathon. Otherwise these all fall into the same category of "fun-run," so why hate on one over another?

Have fun staring at a road for 5 hours. Tough Mudders actually require some sort of athletic ability to get through them.

How long is the actual course?

How old do you need to be? Parent Signature?

Is it more of a lung endurance race or a body endurance race?

Tough Mudders are like half marathons with jackass events here and there... and then you get zapped at the end.

Marathons and Triathalons cause this kinda shit.

lol I always laugh at this video and then feel like an asshole cause its pretty much these runners that pushed so hard their bodies are literally trying to shut down

btw tough mudder is no joke, especially the one in VT up and down mount fucking snow

i did the tough mudder last year. it was the hardest thing ive done both physically and mentally. people on here who have never done anything like that try to play it down and make it seem easy, but they just dont have any idea what its like. i have to miss it this year because im not home when its happening, but in the future im definitely doing it again. it was a huge confidence booster and made me feel really genuinely tough. whenever im feeling shitty or sad, i look at my orange headband and say fuck yeah, im a tough mudder. i can do what ever the hell i want as long as i dont quit.

ive run half marathons plenty of times and i found the tough mudder about a million times more difficult. ive never gone for a full marathon, so i dont really know what its like, but the act of running really far in nice weather on a paved road is a lot easier to get your mind around than running through 6 inch deep mud up and down black diamond hills and then having to pick up a 40 pound log and carry it up a half mile hill, among other things.

While a tough mudder may look like a joke compared to a triathlon, a spartan race is childs play compared to a tough mudder.

anyway, im signed up for the tough mudder near me this summer and can't fucking wait. gonna be fucking awesome
