My first solo flight.

My first solo flight on 4/7/12. One of the best moments of my flight. It was so exhilarating and I felt so free. Just wanted to share with NSG.

First landing looked like you got a little anxious and set it down a tad too soon. Second one looked perfect and I didn't watch the third. Congrats man, flying is one of the most fun things to do.

Hahaha agreed so much. If you watch touchdown on the first one, watch my mouth "AH!". The third was a good landing but was a bit far down the runway.

To get a student pilot certificate you have to be 16 years old. To get a private pilot's license you must be 17.

Yeah the plane feels so much lighter when you are soloing compared to a dual. So the plane tends to float a little longer when you are landing. And when you are taking off you are climbing super fast.

He's a 767 Captain based at JFK. He's got a flight to Manchester England tonight. Pretty damn sick if you ask me. I hope to become a professional as he did. I'm planning on having my private's by the summer. Instrument and commercial by the time I graduate HS. Wish me luck!

Be prepared to spend a shit ton of money. Somewhere around $150-200 a lesson depending on how long you're flying and what you are flying.

I did like an hour tutorial/introduction flight thing and got hooked so I'm starting legit lessons in June.

Ive also done a tutorial/intro flight thing and am in the same boat except i dont have plans to start lessons yet. Does anybody have a figure of about how much a license costs after all the lessons and tests etc. you have to take?

My instructor was 40/hr. and to rent a 150 it was 80/hr.(Got my own though.) 100/hr for a piper warrior. These were the rates at the FBO I used, but obviously theyll vary. If you imagine the 40 hours MINIMUM before checkride with an instructor and renting? You could be talking close to 5,000 after you get all your instruction, books, medical, etc etc. But its worth working for to me.

I remember my first solo, my instructor was in the plane with me, about 6:30 am, we do a few touch n go's, then he's like I'm out, I stop, he gets out, I go take off. I remember dancing as soon as I took off!


What's your plan with flying, and where is this at? (I didn't read any comments if you already said, my bad)


And I was supposed to fly today, but fuck the wind in upstate NY, 40k gust, fuck that haha

I know how you feel about the crosswind.. My 150 has a max demo'd of 13kt crosswind hahaha. But I want to get my privates by this summer, my instrument and commercial by the time I graduate from High School. Then I'm going to go to a community college to get a flight degree or something of that nature (I'm trying to get out of the 2 year degree from AP credits and CHS credits in high school) then I'm going to get a 4 year degree in anything and fly on any downtime I get, maybe do some commuter work in the summers then by the time I get my 4 year degree Ill be marketable to the big dogs of airlines. This was at KBTP Butler airport in PA.

Haha, yea and I was gonna fly from KSCH to KPOU which is a nice short flight, but with the wind, my e6b was saying like 1hr35 minutes or so...... and it was raining off an on, shitty day here

I'm finishing up my bachelors next semester, then going to a flight academy down in florida, aerosim (used to be delta connect).

Getting commuter work in the summer will be tough, they want you full time, at least from what i've seen. If you get your CFI rating, you can instruct while taking classes, which is a pretty good gig

If you can use AP credits and whatnot for college, you can get your degree in 3 years. I'm getting my degree in 3.5 years, but its not aviation, its business admin

I really have no clue but I don't want to attend a flight school. That would be throwing all eggs in the same basket and due to how volatile the industry is.. I wanna have a back up major in case that it won't go as planned. I'm still not sure where I want to go though..

He is based in LaGuardia in NYC. Used to be based in Albany, NY probably like 8 years ago or something when Albany was a base.

My dad flys an Embraer 145. He also has his Instructor license so no need for me to pay for an instructor, only the rental of the aircraft.

thats dope man congrats, im currently working on my instrument and getting my complex, tailwheel, and high performance endorsement in the same plane. If you ever have the option to get a tailwheel endorsement i highly recommend it. Makes landing any other plane the easiest thing in the world.
