Self Haircuts?

I just bought a $9.99 beard trimmer from wal mart and started giving myself a haircut because I needed a haircut. The trimmer died after I got like maybe 5% done and now it's charging

Does anyone on here give themselves haircuts? If so, any special techniques to the opposite side your dominant hand?

So far mine sucks

Pics? The only thing I ever cut is my own bangs when they get too long. With craft scissors.

i go many months between real haircuts and between then i do a trim every 2 weeks or so.   its because it gets puffy at the back but i like it long at the front so i just do it myself.
and because im cheap.

the worst is when you get trigger happy and go too far,   then you need to go into the barber to get it fixed and they laugh at you.

best way to save money in college, i did what you did except i bought a corded one so i wont have to worry about it dying. my only hint is do it i front of a large mirror so you can turn your head. you will also be able to notice a different sound when the buzzer is cutting hair or not, when you dont hear that sound anymore, you got all the hair. hope this helps

my brother got some nice designs from a hood barber, he is getting 31D in the back of his head soon in honor of detroit, and he;s had some nice stars and stuff


i dont think i can give myself a good design haha

I use a Wahl clipper set I got from target for like $30, has worked great for the past 4 years. Every now and then I get a professional haircut (2 or 3 times in past 4 years it seems like?)... Def a good way to save money.

you are a moron you need a good set of clippers and its easy as fuck, i cut my hair and with the right equipment its a piece of cake but a $10 beard trimmer will break halfway through and hurt like hell because it will pull your hair and get caught

I haven't paid for a haircut in about 3 years now.
I just got a Wahl buzzer from Target for ~$20 and do it myself.
The only downfalls are getting hair everywhere and trimming the back of your neck gets pretty difficult.

one time when i was 8 i cut my bangs with plastic scissors. my mom didnt notice until i was sitting in the car with the windows open and a piece of hair fell down onto my nose. then all i can remember is is an explosion of rage and not being able to get candy at the store

yeah i cut my own hair....but then again i buzz it all as short as possible so it's not exactly rocket science.


tips: don't cut your own hair unless you shave your entire head. and use a vanity mirror so that you can double check you got everywhere in the back and sides when you're done. other than that, it's pretty much like mowing the grass. i go front to back on top of my head, then bottom to top of the sides, and then usually back to front on the sides also since the direction of hair is horizontal.


con-air makes real good trimmers for cheap. Wahl makes good ones that are a bit heavier duty and more pricey.

I've been cutting my own hair for years...

That being said, I know guy hair is different than girl hair, but I find it way easier to have a mirror behind my head as well. So that looking at the mirror in front of me, I can also see the back of my head.

Also helps a tad when slightly damp. Very very slightly damp.

dont use a beard trimmer to cut your own hair...use a proper set of clippers.

^i have the color pro one and it was only 20 bucks at walmart. wahl is quality.

find a girl to cut your hair if your gonna shave it like that, makes it way easier and girls think its fun to go to town on somebody with clippers. plus you cant really mess it up if u have a guard on, just keep going over it till everything is even, then take the guard off for the neckline and sideburns.

i have some cheapo conair hair cut kit that i got for $20 bucks at walmart on sale. i can easily do that fade crap but i couldn't really care all that much how my hair looks as long as its even and i dont have to do anything to it besides wash it, so i shave either a 1-3 depending how i feel and it takes me 10 minutes to do, cleaning ups the only annoying part. also dont use a beard trimmer it will not cut nicely (i have had my bad experience with it).

Went way to short, apparently a 2 is too short, def taking some advice and getting something that isn't a beard trimmer

That looks like a pube #2, not a normal hair #2

at least i cut my hair with a #2 guard and its a lil longer than that. doesnt look bic'd at least.

I found this one place where an Indian lady (dot, not feather) gives the fucking best haircuts for $11 and you get a free beer! Not only do I look like a runway model when I leave that place, but I get a beer too! Doesn't hurt that she is absolutely the nicest lady in the world either. So pro.

God damn I was gonna say my mom own a shop and she showed me how to shave my head it's mad easy. I start at the back goin up then do the sides the same way then just do the front goin towards he back of your head then take a small mirror so you can look into another mirror and see the back and make sure it's even and not all patchy

I knew one kid in high school who tried to cut his hair with a shaving razor, but then cut himself and stopped like 5/8 of the way done. It was hilarious.
