This shitty winter means shitty snowmelt for the rivers. Where have you boated this spring?

I've just been playing around in some class II because real boating is 5+ hours away from me, but hopefully I'll get some good trips in this summer

Did a little local class 3 creek dam release here in southeast PA in march. The tohickon which dumps into the delaware river.

Also did a dam release on the lehigh in the southern poconos.

Hopin to hit the muddy soon in southern PA and possibly another trip out to the lower yough for some rafting or kayaking later this summer.

Might try and get on some water up in new york in late june but I don't really know whats around up there. Guess I gotta do some research. I'll be in the windham area of the catskills.

I've only done the lower as I'm really a class 3 boater for now. It's still got some great rapids on it though. Surfing swimmers rapid is like a fuckin dream. We even surfed it last year in a raft with like 6 people, the crowd loved it.

The upper looks nasty as fuck and well out of my skill range right now. I'm workin on getting a creeker though soon and trying to step it up.

Yeah I'm a III-IV boater and have had tons of fun messing around on the lower, but I don't think I'm ready for the upper just yet haha

Don't drink and boat kids.........unless you're on a river that's barely class 3 and you've run it dozens of times in multiple different boats. It's ok, we were drinking with the buddy system.

Don't drink and boat? Thats crazy talk. Boating is the worlds best drinking game. Drink a beer after every rapid above class 2. If you flip 2 beers. If you swim 3. Thats a man's sport.
Variation: open a beer before a rapid. Drink throughout without spilling your beer or putting it down.

Amen, I was joking, I've got one of those nrs cooler drybags that we fill with beer cans and a flask just about every time we go out. Nice liquidlogic, what kind is that??? My buddy has a jefe and I love the thing. I need to invest in a creek boat in the worst way.


Yo fraggle, you made it down to the yough yet this summer?? I still wanna make it there, or possibly the muddy, or maybe even that playpark in Johnstown out in western PA. How far is all that from ya, it's about a 4 hour drive for me as I'm right above philly.

Takin the playboat down to delaware in two days to try and catch some waves with the surfers. The ocean never runs dry that's for sure haha.

Not huge waves but it's still fun as hell to throw back a few brews throwin horseshoes then climb in the boat for some wave surfin. sometimes the dolphins cruise by and swim right under the boat if you're out far enough.

I haven't had the chance to get on any whitewater all summer, but I'm definitely going to be on the Yough the weekend of Sept. 15. It's a 7 hour drive for me, so I don't have the chance to head down too often. Hopefully I'll be able to get down the Slippery Rock Creek or some other easier stuff that's closer to me though!

Nice, are ya boating with others out there or camping or what?? I've got maybe 1 boater here that might come along and another dude I work park crew is out in western PA all summer so he might be down for a trip down the lower. I just wanna surf swimmers again soooo bad. I might be free that weekend if you're willing to meet up with a NSer and take on another boater or two.

^ My fucking buddy decided to do the falls last year, the day after I left for home. he just joined up with two or three other guys that were gonna run it and ended up being one of two guys out of their group to stick it. He said one in the group dumped in the wash upstream and went over the falls upside down. yikes

My roommates and I lead our college's outdoor club, and we're going down to Ohiopyle for a rafting trip, but my buddies and I will paddling. I want to run the falls so bad haha

Surf the raft in swimmers, it can be done, we did it with about 6 people in our raft and the crowd went frickin nuts. Don't forget to smile at the camera after cucumber.

So would you be willing to take on another paddler or two on the off chance that I could make it out there that weekend??

I'm not a novice, so ya don't gotta worry bout that. Been down it two or three times in a kayak and about the same in a raft. Guided a raft down it once too.

Wait are you talking upper or lower??
