Sony NEX-FS700

Pretty interesting new unit coming from Sony. The only information I have is from the video, but it looks like they are positioning it between the FS100 and F3. 4K at 200 FPS sounds pretty incredible in addition to the other strong components of the camera, especially at a (hopefully) reasonable price-point.

The first footage from Sony's new NEX-FS700. The new Super 35mm model is designed for high-speed shooting and is capable of capturing footage at up to 960 frames per second. The camcorder also features a range of capabilities such as 3G HD-SDI output and built-in ND filters. Additionally, it also offers several creative options, shooting styles and enhanced ergonomics – all based on customer feedback – to deliver a flexible production tool that fits seamlessly into a variety of shooting applications.

I dont think it shoots 4k 200fps, it shoots 1080p200 for euro and 1080p240 for USA and its an 8 second burst.

haha no worries. Its a sick camera, it deserves most of the hype its getting! (Minus all the hype over on dvxuser, they are a shit show about it right now)

From what I've read, it looks like the 4k is down converted to 1080p in camera (which is awesome). It shoots 240fps for 8 seconds, 120fps for 16 seconds. The only thing I REALLY want for my FS100 are the ND filters. The slow-mo is awesome, but for 90% of my gigs/shoots, it's totally not necessary at the moment.

The af100 is a fun camera! I have a friend who has it and he love it. From what I just read, there won't be anything at nab from direct competitors that rivals the fs700 however who knows. I hope there would be to drive prices down.

lol at the fact that Sony says "the views of the filmmakers aren't those of Sony" ...but most of them seemed as though they were reading what they said.

Overall pretty cool cam. It'll be interesting to see ski footage with it.

I actually really like this camera.  It fills a void for me in the frame rates department , at a cheaper price than an Epic.  I'm curious to see what the 4K External device will cost though

Get a job.  My family is poor, thats what I did.  Every camera I ever bought I used my own cash for. If you want something bad enough you can get it.


Obviously some of you are looking at this camera from a ski pov, look at it from others and some of the features would make sense.  Food Commercials for example.  I've also shot concerts where we used 120-196fps to get specific shots. 

Different work call for different things.  It's inconvenient to call in a Phantom just for one shoot when you can get the look you need in the cameras already in camera.  This camera will obviously allow for overflooding of slow motion in Action sports no doubt, and youtube tests but still.  In particular instances there is use for this feature. 

Getting it in a camera under 10K is a step in the right direction.  This will force Phantoms and other high speed cameras to lower prices, or offer a lower price option, as well as forcing companies like RED to get frame rates at higher rates, and offer more in there lower tier camera.

At 3:33 the guy is shooting and old nikkor-s 50 1.4, kinda cool seeing as I have two of them, sooo sharp.
