When do you consider yourself a GOOD park skier?

Like the title says, once you can do what do you consider yourself a good park skier, not amazing, just good, and why? I feel at my mountain I'll be pretty good once I can do pretz 2s. Due to the fact that we had about 50 days in total this year and the amount of features was just abysmal.

Hard to say really without getting all claimy... and of course it depends on what hill you're at.

When you can comfortably hit every feature in your mountains park, with steeze and a handful of tricks?

When there's like 20 people at any given time queuing for the M-L jump line and you're one of maybe 7 or 8 people on the whole hill hitting the biggest jump line... that feels good, I don't know if it makes you good though.

i guess anyone who is better than me, i always used to think lipslipe to blind 2s were way hard and awesome but then when i could do them i thought they were easy and thought it was a super easy trick

i'd say 2's on both ways 2's out both ways and being able to sw up makes you a good rail skier

I'm alright for my first year, I can hit mostly everything in my park minus like 2-3 features. I suck at jumps though, I can hardly do a 3 on jumps bigger than 15 feet, I just get sketched out and spin too early and too fast and catch my edge on the lip.

Hold up, 2s on both ways make you a pretty fucking great skier. Most people can usually 2 on, but definitely not both ways.

"Good" is relative. I remember almost jizzing when I saw my first 540 off a wind lip... If I saw the same one today I wouldn't be amazed.

However 'competent' at park skiing I would define as.
Confidently:
Laying out a back/front flip off mid sized kickers.
Confidently 270'ing onto most boxes, some rails.
Sliding any jib (apart from crazy PBP type shit)
Being able to do 5's with grabs.
2 out/Switch up at least 2 different ways.
Land a 720.

where i am we dont have separate jump lines, so this doesn't apply, mostly just inverts honestly, or like just look steezy in the air and on rails.

Oh shit! you mean i have to actually do tricks? I just show up in my Level1 hoodie with baggy as fuck pants, and stare homies down behind my dark gogs.


Yo then when they're not looking, I throw down my sketchy as fuck front 2's out, but only if the rail is at most 1 foot off the ground. If it's higher, I just role over the lip with 1 pole kind of tweaked up behind my back like i'm about to drop into a massive hit like a true balla.

This is pretty accurate, I'd add:

switch 5's on s/m and some large
flat 3's / Rodeo 5's (funnest tricks ever)
the occasional disaster onto rail

That's competent i think

i found spinning unnatural 2s on pretty easy considering if you spin fronts out of rails its pretty much the same

and on kickers i can't really say having never hit anything above 30ft as indoor isn't great for booters but 3's all 4 ways with grabs seems legit?

that's a pretty high standard. i'd say at least 4/8 on boxes/flat rails (natural direction) and 1 3 5 7 with grabs on jumps makes you a pretty dece park skier.

you're a good park skier when you learn to progress. learn 20 tricks a day, or 20 variations of tricks you've done before

naming off specific tricks is dumb
learn to match tricks
create jump lines

that's good park skiing.

three jumps
backflip all 3
zero all 3
switch backflip all 3
180 - sw 5 - cork sev

or x games status..
dub cork 10 - unnatty dub cork 12 - sw dub 10 - sw unnatty dub 10 (WTF - COMP SKIING IS FUCKED UP)


you're a good park skier when you can do a 180 with fucking swag. then go from there

^this list of tricks/ skiing seems to be what i would think

being able to slide/hit everything in freeway i guess, to me its all about adaptability and progression. being able to 3 or backie a new jump on the first hit should be standard

for me its just being able to cruise down the mtn. do a few tricks with style and you can hit just about everything at a big resort like in the east its mt snow loon waterville. if oyu can hit all there stuff and not flail and fall off all the rails early. do a few 3's or 5's some 2's and swaps then your a good park skier

it isn't something you can define, you're a good park skier when you can cruise through the park, hitting a bunch of features for fun, doing some tricks and making them look good.
It's not as if there is a set list and if you can't do one of the tricks on it, you aren't good. I hate the idea that there is some set trick list to be 'average', 'good' and 'great'. Don't even try, everyone knows who is good when they watch them ride for a while and you can be good in a ton of ways. /end rant.

idk i guess it depends on what kind of style do you want, future spins, normal, or whatever. for me i can do cab 180's and 360's and i can 540 and switch 540. and i can ride almost any rails, i can switch up and 2 and pretz two off, and i can do it all with what i think is pretty decent style. so i would say im a pretty good skier.

once you can pretzel out of a trick (2 on 2, back swap-blind 2) on a good sized rail, I'd say you have what it takes to be called a good park skier

never. as you get better your expectations increase. i used to consider someone as good as i am now to be a good skier. now that i have reached that level of ability, i see it as easy, and i only see those better than me as good

it's how i view running. anyone faster than me=good, anyone worse than me=not so good

it all depends, not be put the wrong message out, but my friends and i consider outself "good" compared to kids at our mountain, wer probably the best in the park (doing rodeos, corks exct.)

then we got to a mountain like waterville and kids are doing doubles like its no big deal


to me, i think you a good park skier when you can do a few flips, spin both ways off rails, spin onto rails and get actual grabs

Personally I won't consider myself good until I can hit every jump at a local hill, cork 5, switch spins up to 5, forward spins up to 7, do all 8 on rails, rodeo, frontflip, backflip, and do it all with style and grabs where applicable. I mean tons of kids can do those tricks, but I'll be satisfied and consider myself "good" when I can finally do them. Definitely won't be that good for a while, but I guess you could say those are my long-term goals.
