For future reference: when a certain supreme hoodie releases do they actually cost $200 or are they like $100. Do they cost $200 because they are sold out, limited release etc...Thanks for all legit answer K+ will be rewarded like usual.

Supreme hoodies release for 120 but most sell out very quickly. Most stuff from supreme gets sold out very quickly and gets resold for more. Especially high in demand items.

Supreme collabos are even more. The Supreme x CDG hoodie about a month ago was 188 bucks and resells for over 300

No. Supreme itself isn't that expensive. Resale is expensive. Shit sells out real quick, & because of it's limited quantities, sells like crazy for resale. & You can't get anything from SS unless you're a member, which you can't sign up for it anymore.

supreme is one of the most ingenious companies ever

1. manufacture extremely cheap shitty stuff
2. don't give a fuck what it looks like and put shitty logos on it
3. hype hype hype
4. sell out a limited quantity for way too much
5. sit back and lol while all the 17 year old skateboardfags scramble to buy $100 used t-shirts and $300 hoodies
6. repeat at random times

i don't know how they do it but it's goddamn awesome

thats one of the nice things, exclusivity, chances are you will not see anyone else wearing the same thing, which to some people is a huge bonus

I'm taking this lightly, assuming you somewhat admire what they do. The company is extremely over-hyped right now due to the explicit exposure from OF. Considering a bunch of kids ranging from 12-18 hangout on the corner around Fairfax in LA where OF's sweatshop is located amongst preme's store itself - there is a dense amount of youngsters buying it because their 'favorite artist wears it.' But that's what happens everywhere else, right? Supreme does not make shitty stuff but clearly you wouldn't know that considering what you stated above. Have you ever tried on any of their staples? The pocket tees, henley's, etc.. all made from an extremely durable and heavyweight cotton with a custom fit. Don't give a fuck what it looks like? Sure they do. That's why their pride pieces sell out within minutes. The graphics the team come up with are not random. Look at Jiberish's new Miller Time tee, why do you think they released a tee with a graphic like that? Why not this past winter? think about it. The reason people re-sell for an increased market value, especially on deadstock items,  is because they know others will appreciate it as much as them - and if it's some kid wearing their leather Schott jacket to a skatepark then yes, they need a pineapple in the ass. Random times = Thursday's at 11am EST. Supreme trail blazes on the streetwear game and has been an element in the  'menswear' side of things over the past few years, again gaining more momentum in the later months. I'll always buy from them. Another thing, don't take it to heart if you can't afford anything, like Thomas said, some of it is pretty opinion based but most pieces will grow on you once you see the trends spreading like aids in other streetwear brands; exhibit A - floral for 2011, camo for 2012. But I heard chicks also dig guys with some sweet Hurley tee's from Zumiez. Maybe cop some underground Diamond Supply gear, vry rare.

Ahhh the bitches love supreme;) but all this hate comes from people with little to no experience with the brand. And the whole thing about kids paying more than what somethings worth is exactly what runs b/t on this site(just look at jiberish) but fuck it.

I don't mind it, its just the first skate brand that has branched into the realm of high(er) fashion. No big, people are going to buy it if they want - supply and demand. It has been marketed in a genius way to a niche of customers that go crazy for it.

While on the topic of Supreme, saw a sixteen seventeen year old kid yesterday wear supreme shirt, supreme hat, and a mother fucking holister hoodie.

i think jiberish is a bit expensive too but they have much higher product quality and much more artistic and complex designs, especially the older stuff. it's not like a basic grey hoodie with a red square and white writing sells for $250

to be fair, none of 'preme's hoodies sell for 250 retail, thats all on the resale market. Some people don't want a loud colorful hoodie like jiberish produces(i know I have grown out of their stuff), and would rather have something very clean and simple, supreme produces a lot of things that fit in that category. Paying $120(retail) for a very comfy, very limited hoodie is completely reasonable to me. Have you ever actually worn anything from them? Saying their quality is bad is a lie.

im not sure why this thread is even here, if you like it buy it, if not then don't and stop caring what other people spend their money on

i'm not hating on supreme i'm more fascinated by the market they have been able to create. if i was an owner of supreme i'd be pretty damn proud of myself and my business model

Supreme is absolutely not high fashion. it's very well marketed street wear. I don't hate the company, and I fully respect and admire what they do as somebody who plans on going into fashion. however, anybody who says they're buying Supreme for the quality and durability of the clothing is either lying or dumb. Supreme is nowhere near the most durable clothing, and its durability and quality is far from worth the price. but when you come right down to it, when you're buying street wear, 99% of people are paying for the name above anything else. that's simply how it works.

I agree with this, despite what I mentioned for durability in my longer post. I was simply stating the comparison to other street wear brands. HUF for example, I have two buddies that were close knit with the crew before they transferred from SF to LA, however a standard issue Tee from them in comparison to Supreme....hands down Supreme; getting into materials, some street wear clothing is surprisingly very basic - that's where the name comes in. You could cold wash a Preme tee and lose nothing and do the same to some of these others and you might as well have gotten a Moreno from Target. NY > LA anyday of the week, and because it has been influenced into the common streetwear getup as of late, this is why the brand is so important. Take OF's 'clothing line' for instance. As Clancy stated, it is all about exposure and the right timing. As opinionated as Tyler's lyrics are and OF in general, they make a killing off their line - I have seen it firsthand - even those 12yr olds spending $90 on two tee's are sportin' Supreme camps. It goes hand in hand and you can all blame that on Tyler's super sweet hookups.

Jiberish has been stated little in this thread, however I want to point out how Pete knows how to market the brand as well. I'm sure Supreme has had an influence, yes I know he wears it (why not?) but opening up a second store in SLC was an extremely smart move. He knows not to place them within a so called 'driving distance' and of course they are anchored in two of the hottest skiing areas in the US. Who wears it? Where are you primarily going to see a dense collection of it?

I would put money on it that Gabe and Pete open another near Tahoe or SF by 2014.

Speaking of influence. Remember when Jiberish had the brilliant idea to do waves of the drop this past year, much like supreme.... The only problem was people weren't hyped on the stuff because tbh shit has been lacking for some time. Supreme as a brand sells out of hyped and sought after items instantly. Jiberish might dream about it, but unfortunately its not 2009 anymore...

Of course it is a supply and demand market. You can approach it by supplying the buyers with copious amounts of your product at a lower/affordable cost or the complete opposite - that should be common sense. Supreme sits on the fence between these, unless you are going after their charmed staples.

Apparently my input that was so vaguely written has dug myself into a hole that I cannot get out of. Durability...I'm thinking of a Carhartt coat I'd pair with some bulletproof pants. Supreme, I'm thinking of the pieces I have from '08 that have survived  the wear and tear unlike, yes, some Tees that I have from stores with brands I have mentioned previously. I'm not going to get into more of an argument why it is or is not worth it's cost. The product is what you buy, the name is what you buy into. It's how they continue to appeal to so many different people. They are one of a few non-mainstream brands (Nike) that spread such a wide net and, even more impressively, never set out with that intention. You rarely find a men’s clothing brand this popular that has so many people hooked for so many different reasons.
