Nikon d5100 vs. Canon t2i

Ok guys already know theres not to much difference besides the t3i so besides price i would like to know in your opinion which one is better. Heres what i have so far...

T2i-60 frames....other than skiing-panning will be smooth

d5100...sharper images...video quality in 1080 seems a lot better to me

On a side note i don't know what to call this but on canon t2i videos i am always able to see the pixels/squares in the video on the nikon d5100 the video quality seems better....

I'm just going to have to say try each one and get a feel for them yourself.

spend some money, and rent each one for a few days each, fuck around and make mistakes on them. Learn the ins and outs.

Cameras that similar in quality almost always should be tried and tested one after another or right next to each other... lets you figure out the subtle nuances that you love/hate between the two and make a choice.

there is absolutely no way you could tell the difference between a d5100 shot and a t2i shot unless it was user error.

the t2i is superior to the d5100 because 1. it has 720p60 and 2. you can use magic lantern to hack into your t2i and get some better video functions and 3. because the d5100 doesn't even have full manual control in video mode, you have to leave video mode to change the aperture.

Overall, canon is making much better dslrs for video. Don't worry about 1080 right now, you wont be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on dlsrs.

Canon is definitely making the better DSLR for video right now. (and probably for a while). That Nikon is much more tailored for great photos (as are most Nikons in general) rather than video.

If you're doing mostly video then go with the T2i.

I am also looking into these too camera's. I was wondering what would be better if you take about 60% pics and 40% videos? So far ik that the Nikon does 1080p...

it does 1080p but it's doesn't have full manual exposure for video so it's shitty for video compared to the t2i. i think it's a little better for photos personally.

like my 5100 a lot, negative yes not fully manual, however i find it much easer to sort through menus and setting with the nikon,  pain in the dick imo on the cannon,  the nikon just feels better in my hand as ell,  also partially user induced but most cannon shots allways seem a little over exposed to me
