Anyone ever done one? Theres one in Saranac, NY every year that I will hopefully be racing in this year. If you've never heard of the DWI 500 its basically a car race in a field turned into a dirt track where you cant race unless you blow a BAC of AT LEAST .08. Seems like nothing but good times, good people, and a shit ton of alcohol. Im super excited to do this and will be buying my friends '85 Volvo for the race. Possible Newschooler mobile? And sorry to the youngins but if you're underage, you obviously cant do it. Heres a Description from a video....
"you start off the morning with a 6-pack to enter
and have another beer for every race until
everyone else is eliminated".
Everyone likes NASCAR. But ever watch a race
where the drivers are all DRUNK!!!
Then you need to move to Upstate NY!!!!
4 Things you need for a DWI 500
1. Get one potato field and make it into a dirt track
2. Get a large group of upstate New Yorkers
3. Get about 25 beat-up cars
4. Get a whole lot of beer
im sure people do get hurt, I mean they're drunk and driving, just look at the first video. But you have to do work to the car and meet their standards to be able to race/make it as safe as possible.
Pretty sure they talked to the Local Police and have everything sorted out. They have Police and Ambulance/medical staff on site. Its been happening for a while now so its not like its been around for a year or 2.
Im sure it started out as just random people/friends doing it for fun and is now a sponsored event. Shits blowin up, I mean who would not want to be apart of this? An actual excuse to drink and drive? and race for that matter? + you get to see the real effects/experience the effects of alcohol+driving in a somewhat safe environment
I realize that this shit happens, more than half my highschool was from the country. I just didnt realize that this could possibly be a legal event. If I had the oppurtunity to do this I would be in in a heartbeat though!
The only reason I defend myself from you is because I am from the Catskills. As a Catskillian, I am technically upstate from most of the people in New York State.
sound fun as shit but also could go horribly wrong like the car flips and catches on fire and hes to drunk to give a shit. and when someones wrecked and sober people are trying to help non of the other drunks stop hahaah could see it going awall quick
