How he gets plates that huge to work blows my mind. I tried tin types once and I couldn't even get a 6" one to coat evenly and work at all. They look beautiful when done right, though. Watching this has made me research doing dry plates in my 4x5, but I definitely know how frustrating the process can be!
It's hard to say, I don't really know much about it. I think you can get the chemicals through Bostick-Sullivan for around $100, and then you just need plates...I think.
