What's a really good TV show?

 Just got finished watching The Sopranos a while back, and I have actually started watching it again because it is so fucking good. I feel like most TV nowadays is pretty horrible in terms of acting/overall plot. The Sopranos and The Pacific are the only two series I've watched that I actually enjoyed and was interested in.

Please don't recommend shit like Game of Thrones or True Blood. I even started watching The Wire and I couldn't get into it, even when I was 8 episodes in.

Anyone have any suggestions that would be of The Sopranos caliber???

Yeah Band of Brothers definitely seems pretty good, I actually have the box set on dvd but it doesn't work for some reason. :(

I watched the first two seasons or so of Breaking Bad. I thought it was super good, just thought that it was a little too dark and depressing to continue watching it for a long period of time,

anyone have a good site where I can stream The Wire? I've heard a lot of good things about it, but I haven't been able to come across it anywhere....as in I've been looking to buy/rent the dvd series at a few different stores and can't find it + not on Netflix.

I agree that The Wire is hard to get into. It's a good show but it's not really one of those that gets you hooked. And True Blood needs to be watched for what it is, it's pulp fiction in HBO show form, which is definitely not for anyone who wants a form of higher entertainment out of their television.

The best network television show of all time is The West Wing. Specifically, after season 1.

There are lots of good suggestions in here. Breaking Bad is a good one though it has some annoying as damn characters in it. I was not that big a fan of Mad Men despite the hype. You and everyone else should download Firefly (only 14 episodes) and watch that front to back followed by Serenity (the movie).

As far as HBO shows go you should watch Carnivale and Deadwood. Carnivale is just nuts. Rome's good too.

The wire is awesome! You just have to sit down a dedicate some time to get into it. It isnt one of those shows that gets you hooked after a sode or two, watch all of season one in a day or two, then youll have the wire bug and youll fly through the next four seasons.
