Hey M&A, I’ve made a few gopro edits but I’m looking to get more into filming so naturally I’m looking for a good beginner dslr setup. As far as camera experience goes, I own 2 gopros and frequently use my school’s Canon XL2 to film whatever they want. I’m not sure the model PC that I use to edit on but I edit with Avid media composer, After Effects, and occasionally Premier. For my budget, I’m not looking to spend any more than $700 on camera and $300 on lenses and I will be primarily filming edits and short films. What should i get?

my advice would be to spend a little over a grand on a dedicated video camera, seeing as how you are already used to a gl2.

i also dont think his budget is large enough to build a good dslr setup

what mike said is a good option, if you dont want to go toward the route of something like the panasonic tm700

now that i actually looked up an xl2, you should save up a few pennies and get something like a panasonic hmc40, still around $1400
