For next year I want some advice on skis, this year I rode Salomon Suspects and last year I rode Armadas, but I wanna look at a smaller company based ski and I like the look of Icelantic. How durable are they? Mainly just gonna use it as a park ski.
super durable? yes. super damp and for old men? yes.
if you want a ski that will actually allow you to pop don't get icelantics. no one in colorado even buys them except gapers. you buy the artwork when you buy icelantic, not the ski.
this is bullshit, at least for the da'nollies. i demoed a pair and they're the most fun park ski i've ever been on. reminded me of a lighter version of my volkl walls. too short for me tho at 180.
Not true. I am by no means an old man. iIlive in Colorado and I love Icelantic. Their park ski, the Da Nollie, is a superb ski. It is easily my favorite park ski i have ever ridden hands down. Icelantic makes some really quality products and a promise you will not be disappointed by their performance.
just bought demoed nomads sft's for $450 they didnt have a scratch. They are one of the best skis i have ridden. They do well on hard snow even with the soft flex. Ollies and hand drags are fun as shit plus they are light and incredeble fun in pow. So i think Icelantic skis are the shit. i would buy them even if they didn't have amazing graphics. the fact that they do is just more awsome
If you want to support a 'smaller' company look into Faction. Next years Kennedys look killer and are such a poppy, light ski. Demoed them one day. I would buy a pair straight away if there was a dealer in NZ. Just bought Thalls though.
The edges on Da Nollies are somewhat weak but they made it 300+ days for me . I cant really complain about having shitty edges when I got 3 seasons out of a single pair, especially when i was skiing park(handrails) everyday. Not many skis can take that abuse so I would still call them highly durable skis.
Also, these skis WILL NOT snap. I have tried and they just keep flexing. They manual and butter super well as a result of this.
And, the bases are really strong compared to other base materials. They take a lot to get a core shot and I only had 2, after literally skiing dirt patches at A Basin for 2 months in summer.
It is my own fault that my Icelantic Da Nollies got as abused as they did, These are super bomber skis and will not be disappointed by their durability. If the ski breaks because of a manufacturer's defect, there is a 2 year warranty on all Icelantic skis, and Icey's warranty department are super laid back group of guys two who understand skis problems and genuinely want you to get the best product you can.
Bigger companies skis are cheaper b/c they can mass produce stuff for cheap, smaller brands tend to put a little more work into every ski, and are going to cost more generally.
