but i love steamboat still and have had many many fun days there that ended with snow on my face and a smile peaking through.

i do think that even though they have a legal trademark on the term, the negative repercussions of the backlash following the cease and desist to unofficial networks will far outweigh any brand confusion or negative pr from a simple one off headline on a site that 99% of the ski public has no knowledge about.

steamboat doesn't rely on unofficial networks regulars for ticket sales, they rely on my dad's friends and their families, people like that, who can afford the stupidly ridiculous ticket prices for a week's vacation.

they should have just let unofficial have their headline, you have your snow that you so stringently defend (methinks the lady doth protest too much...), and dads and moms have their ski-in ski-out hotels at the village, and no one would have ever been the wiser.

plus, there is this to consider. Champagne  can legally only be produced in a specific region of France using specifically mandated practices strictly governed by the regional magistrates. international consumer protection laws mandate that no other product can legally be called Champagne if it is produced outside of this region. As Steamboat clearly does not import their snow from this region of France, they are in violation of international quality and standards laws, and should be forced to change their slogan. those sanctimonious pricks.
