K2 Recoil Ski Comparison.

Hey NS,

I was at Mont Saint Sauveur a month ago and they had a K2 booth setup for twin tip skis and other old fart skis. Anyway I thought, why the hell not? I went and tried a pair of 169 K2 Recoil skis. Having never rode K2 skis before, sorry but I always thought they were shit. Before my karma gets raped for saying that I fell in love with the skis. The guy was explaining to me that the skis are nice and stiff for groomed trails but are awesome in the park. He asked kindly not for me to hit any rails but the jumps were fine. They were great on jumps and they were super fun to ride down the hill.

I loved everything about the skis. I am a K2 believer now. The thing is though that I ride currently 176 Armada Halo from the 10/11 season, before that it was another park rocker ski and before that it was a pair of Head Mojo Spawn II's which I didn't like at all but hey they were my first twin tip.

So basically I am making this thread to ask you Newschoolers who ride regular camber park skis. Is it just that I haven't rode regular camber park skis in so long that I forgot how good they were? Are all park skis such as the Armada T-Halls, AR7's, Salomon Suspect (which I tried and didn't enjoy very much), Salomon 2012, etc. Are they just like the K2 recoil because honestly it is the first time I have rode regular camber skis in about 4 years I think.

I am really interested in picking up a pair of skis so I will buy the K2's but if there are other skis like it I will keep my options open.

My bad guys, just learned that the K2 recoil was built with an all terrain rocker. the guy at the booth told me they were regular camber but he was a snowboarder so maybe he forgot.

Well, understandable you didn't enjoy the suspects. They suck. And k2 has a stellar reputation, you won't be disappointed with that purchase!

I've been on suspects for a season now and I recently just upgraded to Recoils :)

The suspects were mad poppy and an all-around joy for me, regardless of what the common NS'r will say they were a great ski.

The reason I picked the Recoil is because its a pretty burly ski but also because of the camber it has along with the slight tip and tail rocker.

I would say go for it, I love my Recoils

recoils do have camber, the jib rocker is the flat one. AT rocker is camber with rocker. i'm in on this question as well, only ever skied full cambered park skis, was thinking of going to rocker but i don't want to lose any grip on the solid ice of jersey. rocker would certainly help with the slush during the day though.

I absolutely love my domains, I picked a pair 2 years ago and I picked another one this year because it's an awesome ski for rails and medium jumps.

i mean i loved my suspects i don't know why ns generally despises them. That being said after two pretty full seasons (some 40ish days) there is no edge underfoot from hitting rails (about 30 of those days involved lots of rails) which I don't think means the suspect is a bad ski, its just bound to happen.

However, I live on the east and edges are somewhat necessary (i hate looking like some outta control kid who thinks hes fast bc he skis twintips when i really just am forced to powerslide out of a lack of edges), and I'm moving on from the suspects and like everything i Hear about the recoils.

Can Anyone who skied on them this last season speak to their durability? Tryin to pick up a pair of this years because the price has been cut in half

I have them, and yes they are bomber, I will be using them for a second season. I only have two edge cracks and both of them happened from one fall on concrete stairs. Great ski.
