do i really give a damn about the difference? no. am i going to state my opinion anyways? for some reason, yes.
first of all, the main complaint people have about PCs are that they are susceptible to viruses and they crash too easily. ive never gotten a serious virus, and ive never had a computer crash on me. thats over the course of 3 PCs in 8 years.
my complaint about Macs is that they seem more disorganized to me. having all of the windows open up to fill only part of the screen and being scattered around randomly really hurts my eye.
im an organized person, as the common culinary expression states, i like "Mis en Place" - everything in its place. further more, the features on macs like the dashboard, expose, and those other fancy things that show multiple screens at once confuse the hell out of me and seem a lot less efficent than a standard PC set up. likewise, the toolbar at the bottom of the mac screen changes shape and size when you mouse over it, sometimes can be hidden, sometimes the window covers it up, sometimes has icons of unopened programs, etc. it just isnt as efficient as on my PC. for example, my toolbar currently has 3 things on it: google chrome, skype, and the start menu. chrome and skype are the only 2 things im using, and they are the only two things i need to see at the moment. if i want something else i click on the start menu and select it and the window appears full sized, and the icon on the toolbar is neatly stacked beside chrome and skype.
i dont hack, play games, or write code on my computer. i really only use the internet, office programs, and sketchup, so i dont need a lot of depth in my machine. to me it is most important that everything is well put together, easy to find, and easy to look at. from my experiences thats a lot easier to achieve on my Lenovo thinkpad than on a mac.
