Canon Rebel t2i vs. Nikon D5100

I am looking to buy one of these cameras specificly for making skiing, trampoline edits etc. Need help on which would be be better for what im looking to do and on an overall better camera. +k for help and bumps

For video, definitely t2i. 720 at 60p is awesome for slow mo, + you have the option of 24p and 30p at 1080.

I own a d5100 and love it for photos. There is little/no manual control when working with video on the d5100.

So, t2i for sure.

unless you're interested in photography as well, you can take that money and spend it on a video camera.
a solid dslr setup will cost you probably around 2000, bare minimum.

Already did research, its not 2000$ it around 700-800 and thats what im willing to spend. I have already used the older version the Nikon D3100 at my friends house a TON, so i want to upgrade and get myself one.

body: 550
half decent mid range: 500
uwa: 400-500, can be up to 800
decent tripod: at least 200
glidecam: prob 300, could get away with DIY
to have a decent filming setup for a dslr you would have to spend about $1700 at least. these are rough estimates since i havent been doing much buying recently.

I hate when people say you need to drop that much off that bat, in order to start filming he needs the body, probably the tamron everybody gets and then a tripod, thats more like 1000$ if you don't buy used, the key is to get filming with the very basics and grow from there. To answer the op though you should probably not be going toward the nikon if you want to film, I have d5100 for photography but wouldn't enjoy it for video at all.

body+tamron=$1000. used probably still around 800.
a decent set of sticks will be another 200 probably, at the very least.
when you get serious, a mid range on a crop sensor w/o stabilization just doesnt cut it sometimes. hence the uwa.
uwa=/= automatic fix to all stabilization. i.e. glidecam.
what im saying is, for the money, in the longrun, he can get more out of a video camera if hes just shooting skiing. it would be a more economic choice to go with the video camera

I'm not looking for all this glidcam crap and i have a tripod. I was asking reviews on which camera would be better, not to go into how much i have to pay. I only want the boy and the lens it comes with
