When the hell will i ever need to know anything about trig in my life. My math teacher is an ass and she assignes us 50 problems a night of long trig equations. I see no us of this ever in my life in the near future. So when the fuck do you use trig that it is so important to do.  /Rant.

jesus christ dude... YOU'RE A SKIER.

every legit jump you've ever hit probably required some sort of trig to build, and if you ever decide to build a rail yourself you will most certainly use trig.

i used trig yesterday building my rail... lots of trig.

Math was used in the process of making literally everything you use in your day to day life. Be thankful your teacher is drilling it into your head and making you learn it, it will come in handy

if you ever pursued math / physics in university or college (which you probably wont) you would learn how much it applies to. but since youre in highschool you just gotta take it to get the credit. thats literally the only reason, so deal with it.

If you ever become an Electrician understanding A/C (Alternating Current) circuits requires trig as an alternating current follows a Sine curve, with impedance and resistance acting on a circuit you can predict if current flow is lagging or preceding voltage. Making jumps requires trig so that you can estimate projectile motion and tell where your ass is gonna land and how hard you will hit. Trust me its useful, take it from an engineer.

i work on park crew at my local hill, friends with the cat driver who pushes jumps and the guy who builds rails. neither has ever used a trig equation to build a jump or a rail. your point is invalid.

Half of the shit you learn in math class will never be used in your day to day life. Now that being said trig is one of the most damn easy things literally find the equation you need to use and plug it into the damn calculator and it does it for you. Try going to a school where they don't let you use a calculator for anything but trig. School actually does teach you to use your brain every once and a while.

 small hills, sure, they don't need anything cause the jumps are 3 inch gaps at best. im sure huge mountains just wing it with their 60 foot jumps and landings too, yessirs

either way, i think is very improbable that whoever taught your snow pusher how to build jumps didnt either learn directly from someone who understood trig, or from somebody who learned trig from another jump builder. yeah you can build a good jump if you have good intuition on slope angles, take off angles and jump size, but the reason mike wilson crushed himself in yearbook is because they didnt use trig to build that massive jump.

I actually like trig quite a bit. Plus it will be super helpful later on in life if you ever want to be anything involving even the slightest bit of math. Now what fucking sucks is rational equations. Fucking asymptotes and shit...
