Replying to Line's insert idea could be bad for the industry
Okay first off I'm going to say that I think the insert idea is so fucking awesome and I don't understand why ski companies haven't picked up on it in the last 50 years especially since it became popular in snowboarding. But anywho to my point.
I think Line's jumping into this idea alone could potentially be bad for the industry. I asume that LIne has put a patent on this idea as any smart company would. Unfortunately where does this leave everyone else. Now if anyother company wants to try inserts they will have to pay Line a lot or come up with a different pattern. A different pattern you say, yes. And that's no good for anyone. If ever company is forced to come up with different patterns then there will be no standardization. Burton did the same thing a while back with their 3 hole pattern. Fortunatly the other companies go together and created the standard 4 hole patern that is now on every board except Burton. Unfortunately I don't see this coming together of the companies happening in skiing. There are too many big greedy companies out there who won't want this happening eventough it is very convenient for the customer. So if every company has their own pattern then we're right back where we started not being able to interchange bindings between skis except for within the same brand. Maybe I'm wrong and everyone will play nice but I just don't see that happening.

D-loc's picture looks like a monkey smoking that cig. If you had a mug like that would you really want everyone to see it.
