Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to post about my happiest moment :p
I live in the south, so it's not about skiing. By the way, before I write this post, I am a boy scout, and that fact is relevant to the story.
Alright so the BSA has a ranch out in NW New Mexico callled Philmont. About 142 miles from Santa Fe, NM. Anyways this was a 10 day trek. The day before I had to take one of my crewmembers bags (I was crew leader and I'm tall and sorta strong) which was 60 lbs., up 45 degree slopes with no traction for 3 hours. We're talking so steep that you had to crisscross across the trail. Straight fuckin' SEAL shit. Anyways, the day afterwards was a lot better since I got rid of the 60 lbs. pack, and we hiked probably 11 or 13 miles. Right before we get to the backcountry camp, we hiked a small hill. A forest fire (Ponil complex fire) had whiped out most of the trees in the North Country of the ranch. This hill had an old wooden and wire fence and no trees blocking our view. It was literally a 360 degree view of everything. I could see all the way to Colorado (around 15 miles?), a smoke stack of a forest fire in a town 25 miles away, Baldy (mtn), Little Costilla (mtn), the tooth of time (land feature looks like shark tooth on a mountain), the ranchs base camp, and everything else. I could see for fucking miles. It was crazy as fuck. Pure elation.
Also, as weird as this sounds, a fell in love with a girl named Molly at a outpost camp there. It sounds weird falling in love with a girl at a boy scout camp, but I'll be damned if that shit didn't happen. She walked out the door when we walked up to help us, we locked eyes, and it felt like forever. However I didn't talk to her, and I didn't get her last name, email, number, or nothing.
She was the sole thing I thought about for the rest of the trek (4 days). I asked my dad what he thought and he said 'Well, that would be called falling in love.' His confirmation sealed the deal. You can fight love or ignore it, that shit will fuckin find you.
