Sorry Chaunceyskis, I couldn't wait to make the thread.

Post up videos of your favorite pros killing it, pics of some sick spots in your town, or videos of you landing a new trick, ask about tricks, give advice on tricks, discuss/review skates, and discuss the latest news in the world of aggressive skating!

Eventually, we could even use this thread for buying, selling, and trading parts or full skates.



First off, what are your thoughts on the beginning of powerblading? Kizer has just brought the concept into play in the aggressive rollerblading game with their new frames able to hold 4 80mm wheels while still allowing soul and negative plate grinds. Check the fourth and fifth edit for some powerblading shots.

Second, there is a lot of good advice on what type of skates suit you in this thread, as well as where to buy full skates/parts,(https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/615627/), all courtesy of a_pla5tic_bag

yeah thats typical. for me at least, getting soul grinds was a huge breakthrough. Almost instantly after getting souls you should be able to do the other soul tricks (acid, mizuo, porn.. ect).

i feel like it definitely is...

so far my method is this.


1. approach rail at a 90 degree angle, stall the grind i'm trying to learn.
2. repeat until 100 percent comfortable with stalling
3. come at rail at about a 60 degree angle with minimal speed, grind but not really move very far
4. repeat step 3 gradually reducing angle and increasing speed

i do find that for soul tricks its way easier to go towards the rail at an angle, like a pretty decent sized angle too haha


today i got better at left foot soul grinds and got right foot soul grinds down as well... as i progress i'm going to keep practicing until i can do a grind both ways before i move on to a new grind.

next up is acid or mizuo....






QUESTION THOUGH. when i soul grind i seem to have a lot of weight on my front foot.... but from what i hear you're supposed to have almost all your weight on your back foot. is this normal and will it change as i get more comfortable? or should i start focusing on changing it right away?

i don't know, with all soul variation i never had the tendency to put weight on the front foot. Cause if you catch you're going flying. i'm sure it'll come around, if not, work on it.

not doing new grinds until you can do one grind with both feet is a fantastic idea. i wish i did that.

Thanks for posting that. I wasn't aware of Powerblading until now. Makes perfect sense to get bigger wheels into aggressive skates. I personally find the impact of hard wheels on hard surfaces unwelcome to my brain state unless I really work on taking it through my body.

Anyhow, at the bottom of this thread I've quoted some of those videos in my latest posting.


Basically, I equate heartcarving to powerblading. Heartcarvers are longboard skiboards.. actually about 150cm right now in my specs. I call them speed boards.

biggest advice i can do it practice it.. but coming at a little bit of an angle will help avoiding slip out

frames are coming with em, I just kinda wanna get some kizer advance or rollerblade fusion frames so that I can cruise around on big wheels. But like I say it's another 150-200 for frames and wheels and shipping, etc. I'll probly hold off for a couple months and get em when I need new wheels

unless you live in a major city or Barcelona.


only reason i would get a pair is if i wanted a new means of transportation (but for now i've got my bike), or if i wanted to keep my legs in shape for hockey season by skating long distance on the bike trails on Cape Cod.

maybe i just haven't really learned how to keep up speed on my skates, but i hate how slow they seem.

haven't pulled the trigger on the powerblading frames yet.
thinking i'm going to need the full metal frames because of my size.

and as for the xsjado 2.0s i will purchasing a skeleton after the ski season...hoping that they will be able to produce more if they sell out

hey guys im a huge n00b and I wanna start I know how to roller blade normally but im getting sick of skating and wanted to try this out. I also didn't wanna make a thread so I thought I should post this here. Any suggestions for first setup that will last me awhile? or if anyones selling I can fit from size 10-11

Rollerblade makes pretty good starter skates, the souls are huge and they're not too expensive, as always learn tricks both way.

My frames were a complete bitch too. My problem wasn't the frames though, my bolts were completly stripped. Create originals makes great frames though.

how are you liking the festers? i was hearing from a whole bunch of people (even a fester am rider) that the core of their wheels is too small and weak, and makes em skate super slow, even though th urethane is really good.

and i had stockwells as my first skate, but destroyed em in months because there's so much gad damn fabric on there. am now proud owner of some SLs, which are working out great for now.

i got insane involved in skating over the summer. from zero to 100 in weeks.

nobody skates in my uni community though :(
