How fast do you drive?

For those of you that can, which is probably slim to none on here these days, what would you say your average rate of speed is going to and from wherever you go on a daily basis?

depends if i find a good group of cars. if i'm solo, about 125 km/h. 145 if i can get a group with trap cars. going 150 or over is a 10 grand fine in ontario. that's why i cut it off.

usually all i drive to most of the time is school 20 minutes away on the highway, or th gym 14 minutes on same highway. I live around pretty fast country roads usually am going between 40-60mph on them. Highway I do about 80% of my driving. Usually on average like 65-85 depending on the flow of traffic. Can really vary. If im going to visit friends on the weekend usually boston area or down south the speed picks up and people fly so i usually drive like 75-90 on those roads

Usually 10-15 over on the highway just to avoid getting passed constantly, and usually about 5-10 over everywhere else except neighborhoods, then I just cruise at 25. Cops here don't even look twice at you unless you're pushing 90 on the highway, and you'll get dirty looks and the finger for doing anything under 80.

Generally 5-10 over unless on highway or rt20. then closer to 20 over.

It really depends on the road, not the speed limit as much in my area. But as a general rule I go about 85 on the highway, and 5 over in other zones.

5-30 mph over the speed limit on the highway

5-10 mph over the speed limit anywhere else except for school zones


I say 5-30 over the speed limit on the highway because that is the speed of traffic. i'll be flying down a 65 at 85, and people will be passing me. i'm never that ONE guy who's doing 95 on a 65 hahaha

in the city i take it around 65-70 on the free way, in the country ill go about 80 in a 70 ish, i try to stay the same speed because cops just creep around everywhere where i live. :(

I used to go 10-15 over almost always, but then I got pulled over for the first time a few weeks ago. Now it's more like 5-10 over since I used my warning. I always do exactly the speed in town.

I'm ridiculously bad, I don't know if its because I raced karts since I was 11 but if there's no traffic on a normal county road, 75mph easy, if its a road I know there's never traffic on probably faster, and if its a really twisty road, once I know the road I'll go as fast as I feel comfortable as I feel around it (which is still way to fast, usually 75-80 through corners) even gotten understeer which is scary as fuck at 80mph

I know, I'm an idiot, but I know where my cars limits are and never do it with other people in the car or where other people are near. also have never gotten pulled over before :) knock on wood

this...sort of. I usually do 77, just set the cruise control and get in the right lane. When Im on 95 (4 lane highway) I do 80-85 and weave in between traffic. I got pulled over for doing 78 by a statey. Regular roads is usually 10 over, sometimes more.

if im late to school the road i take never has cops so sometimes 20-30 mph over. other times normally 5-10

in germany i would follow the speed limit... till i hit the no speed limit zones obviously.

I didn't use to race but I do this sometimes. There's plenty of roads I sometimes even get upwards of 90 on if there's no traffic, but I don't do it consistently, especially after I got pulled over a few days ago. 5 points and 267$ for going 71 in a 35, so just be careful man. It's not fun shit to get pulled over going that fast.

yeah I know what you mean, last summer during racing season coming back home I still had some adrenaline left and got up to 95 through some corners, after realizing that my tires literally were rolling over onto the sidewalls, I stopped going quite that fast. also got my cougar going up to 140 once on a straight, not topped out, but that was actually pretty fun

I need to make an idiot proof guide on how to speed. you can usually get 5mph over in non-highway zones, and 7-8mph in highways, if driving solo. Depending on the rate of traffic though, you can push 80 in a 65 (max i'll cruise at). Anything above that regardless of traffic and you're going to get pulled over if a cop tags you alone (In new england/northeast at least). 71~72.5 is a great solo speed to go at. Cops have yet to look twice at me doing that fast. Same for my dad, who puts about 75k miles/year in travel.

But learn where cops hide/how they function/trap and you should be good to go. Your best radar finder is your eyes and knowledge. Scan overpasses/behind bridges/turn arounds/shoulders constantly, it will a)keep you focused on driving b) keep you awake (I get so tired when i drive home from a day at the mountain, so it helps) c) reduce your chance of getting pulled over significantly. Watch for breaklights ahead of you. Slow down around turns and over blind hills. They usually hide behind those. Don't get cocky with it and let your guard down, especially on long drives. There always seems to be a cop around when you do...

Always use a retard in front of you (or two or three or five) to go fast. I was cruising up 95 to go skiing and let 4 or so guys pass me before I jumped in with them, moving about ~80. About 25 miles later, all 4 of them got bagged an an overpass speed trap (cop up on bridge tagging down). I saw it and had slowed down but they didn't. Feelsgoodman

Do move with traffic if it is going a tad faster, or slower. Compensate based on the variables around you like rate of traffic. Obviously, don't speed in bad weather, its not worth either the ticket or losing control of your car and crashing. Don't speed with a ton of slow traffic and endanger others. Don't drive recklessly. Don't race, EVER.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun as hell. And I'm sure with your background you can handle it as well, unlike some people I know that speed like that. It's just that getting pulled over going that fast sucks ass, hence why I don't do it a lot of the time.

Apparently not. People speed like this a lot where I live, and the only case I know of where someone even got a license suspension was a guy who got pulled over doing 110 in a 40 zone.

really good tips on how to not get pulled over, I actually memorized what chevy impala headlights look like at night so I can spot a cop coming my way, no, it's not a perfect system. but even if you can spot the difference between a saturn sc2 (the cheaper saturns from late 90's, very easy to identify headlights) and a cop car, it saves you so much time driving at night not worrying about slowing down for every car that passes you going the other way because you're worried its a cop

From personal experience radars are extremely useful at night especially when you're traveling long distances. I found this out the hard way obviously but ever since they have saved my ass so many times.

To add onto that be extra cautious when it gets closer to the end of the month because cops need to give out a specific amount of tickets per month. When they are short they will literally pull you over for anything.

Seriously though, usually 5-10 over the limit. I've had a few tickets and learned to be a little more smart. First ticket was 49 in a 30 and second was 87 in a 55.

Really? 10 grand? I don't usually drive too fast (around 10 over the limit), but on the 401 it is pretty easy to start driving near the 150 mark.
