I am having an argument with a fellow skier/friend. Is holding a grab longer then another skier more style or more technical? Thoughts and opinions.. Thanks!
judges do value amplitude quite a bit as well. thats why russ henshaw always gets raped, over stuck with average scores despite a technical and clean run.
Sorry you're completely right. Landing is absolutely EVERYTHING.
I think I just was separating the judging of the trick out from the landing. I know when I've judged, landing was a separate part of the score, because it could simply crush whatever you did on the other part.
I mean if you don't land, who gives a rats dick what you did in the air?
i say technical. just because you grab does not mean it was stylish. yes a grab can be stylish, thats for the most part why people do them. but i think grabs add technical difficulty to a trick not necessarily style. the best way to prove my point is to look at mfm. yes he grabs sometimes but he also does a lot of tricks without grabbing, probably the only snowboarder that can get away with it because he has such smooth style.
