Not a another salomon suspect thread

I've got a few questions about past salomon suspects and next years suspects. I have friends that tell me they are the greatest skis they have ever used and then I hear people on newschoolers saying they aren't happy with them. I guess there not real durable. Is this true and what is your opinion? I heard rumors that the 2013 suspects will be better and more durable. Can anybody answer this question or is it  too early for an answer?

I have the suspects this year, and overall there great. There one of the poppiest skis I have ever used, however there still quite playfull. There ok carving and not awfull in fresh snow. So overall as a park ski there definatly one of the best I have used.

Duarability wise yeah the top sheets suck, it does chip really easily but really who cares. The top sheet does not affect performance.

Edge wise, mine have held up really well, 40 days use no cracks, There is one section pushed in from hitting an upright, It pushed the base in a bit, but it has got no worse what so ever.

Overall, there great, NS will say they suck, but most people who say that have not owned a pair.

Like any park ski, some will break and becuase salomon sell alot of skis, you may hear about it more, but actually there durability is no worse then any other park ski, apart from the top sheets.

thanks for the response. I also here that they have a two year warrenty and three years with mounted salomon bindings. +K

no sadly not, its a standard one year warrenty, but salomon are pretty good with warrenties, most things get replaced.

Not two year but I did warranty a pair after rail damage. The pair they sent me has a season on them and are in great shape. Really fun ski and I love the dimensions the 176 are like the perfect size park ski for me. If you can get a good deal grab them they're a good ski for sure.

FINALLY!!!! another suspects owner on ns who actually has the ski and doesnt just pretend to own them! this above is 100% correct! i have skied 90-100 days on mine and there are a few chips out the topsheet, but everything has held up awesomly well! they still proform like they did on day 1! get these skis they are awesome

Then why did my friend got a warrenty replacement on his pair of after only doing rails for two years. Got them replaced after two years. Also salomon

this. when i had my suspects, they were great skis ! just enough pop, but buttery enough when you wanted it. i always love the graphics on them too. after about a season, maybe less, they just hit this point, where the durability just stopped. It was like a flat line on a graph that just went straight down all of a sudden. Edges cracks, core shots, top sheet chips, you name it. a good half of my outside edge got torn out when it got caught on a tarp. I've since bought some 4FRNTs and love them…that being said, if someone handed me some suspects i'd be stoked and ride them for sure !

Next years suspects are supposed to have re-enforced sidewalls with better edge durability. Might actually be a legit ski next year. Great design great ski. they started to feel a little flat at they end of 2 years of hitting rail after rail

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here but there are a number of reasons they could have helped him out, knew a shop guy, lied I donno. I warrantied mine after a full season of riding the following summer but my friend who works at a shop sent them in using his shop Id. They absolutely do NOT have a twk year warranty though you can check their site.

i love my suspects. They handle speed well, poppy off the jumps and they havent really had much damadge other than minor topsheet chipping and one or two edge cracks after two years on them

Every year they say they are going to be more durable yet the topsheets still ship away like no tomorrow. The edges hold up good though I'm not going to lie.

It's a good ski for a day or two. Then you edges crack everywhere, and pieces of edge rip out when hitting kinks. Topsheets peel off.. Not a good ski.

The durability is brutal on these skis, but they are actually a good ski when you dismiss all the problems. If you plan to never even think about hitting any sort of rail feature, they some what work.

I had my 08/09's for two years and now have had my 10/11's for two years, and both have held up fine (besides topsheet chipping). That doesn't mean they're perfect though because many people have broken them in the past. Honestly, buying them is a gamble. Like people have said though, when they aren't broken, they're awesome skis. I've had a great experience with both of mine.

But salomon must have done some good with the Suspect since you rebought the 10/11 after two years on the 08/09 :)

The Suspects hate is possibly the greatest conundrum I have ever been seen. Everyone on here says they blow, yet people who have used them that I've personally talked to love them. I even went into my shop a couple of weeks ago and was talking to the bootfitter and he asked me what skis I ride now. I told him suspects and he basically told me they are the best park skis on the market and that the edges are some of the best he has seen. I rode mine about 40 days this year and they are ready for another 40 next year. I've had absolutely no structural problems with mine and the only thing wrong at all is some top sheet chipping, but who gives a fuck it makes them look like they're getting used, instead of me looking like a little kid who just masturbates to the graphics in my room. Get 'em, and have a blast in the ass on 'em.

best ski for allroud park skiing...they are super poppy but not stiff at the same time...cant complain about druability because as a park ski its made for jumps and rails...every ski will crack an edge if you are a good skier and you hit rails once in a while...if you want a bomb proof ski...your preformance will be gone and it will be a heavy ass piece of shit that is ONLY good for rails...the suspect dominates all areas of the park and i would reccommend it..i have ridden a pair of suspects since the first year they have made them...and no other ski beats it it the all round park ski category

they wont be any more durable because salomon refuses to get rid of edge armor. it puts pressure points on certain spots of the edges and causes cracking and blowouts. buy park skis elsewhere imo.

I have had mine for a year(2012 model) and I honestly do love the performance on them I have had no edge damage what so ever.But my top sheet is pretty much almost gone. But the performance of the ski is one of the best out there especially on jumps. They are super poppy, the racebase keep you going fast year round and the camber adds to the pop. There decent on rails aswell. They will handle some powder up to a foot after that your going to want some fattys but being out east they do there job.
