Sanding tops of Afterbangs?

I had the 2012 Atomic Punx this year, and was pretty satisfied. They held up for the most part, and I liked their playfullness. But they did not completly stand up to the beating the whole year. They got ripped out edges, cracked edges and a tear in the base which led to water damage. I am looking to buy either the 2013 Punx, or picking myself up some Afterbangs. If I went with the afterbangs, would it hurt the ski in any way, or what are peoples thoughts on sanding the graphics, to get a more natural look? I need help on deciding on what skis to get. Any thoughts? I like a playfull ski, but I also need to be able to stomp landings on big jumps. Any advice or thoughts would be helpful.

I think you'd be happier with the performance of the 2013, afterbangs are slow and heavy, if you want a more duable ski with great performance look at the ON3P Filthy Riches. However if you're still set on a'bangs and want a natural look I think (guessing) sanding might take of some of the wood grain look, paint stripper or white spirit would take the paint of and keep the wood grain effect but I'm not sure how it would affect bases and edges, best to try putting white spirit/ paint stripper on an old pair of skis to see how it effects the base and edges.

My friend sanded his. Then put a coat of polyurethane on it to make them more waterproof. They look sick with wood grain look.

Yeah, until you ski on them and they start to chip and absorb water.

Don't get a-bangs, worst ski out right now IMO.

I have step ups, and the only thing i like about them is the durability. My edges have held and no brakes in the skis.


other than that, i fuckign hate them.
