Or something like that. It was pretty true. About the best points you're going to find on tv. Online there's everything you need to know, only problem is there's every bit of bullshit as well.

You can find anything if you know what to look for, but most people are too stupid to even start looking in the right direction.

*edit: PARTS of NPR are liberal. They certainly feature liberal shows, such as "Democracy Now", but aside from the talk shows, the core news program is fairly balanced.

and the abortioner has a very good point, the daily show and Colbert report, actually do report news but then they just make a mockery of it. I try to watch at least Colbert before i go to bed. His indecision 2012 bit is great.

well turn on the tv and 75% of the shit you see news stations arguing about is just tweets. open a newspaper and half the articles are people talking about stuff that was posted online. me, i prefer not to turn the tv on or open a newspaper and just turn my computer on instead. granted, i try not to get into politics and the like because you realize that once you stop caring it doesn't affect you (aside from my taxes going up or down by 1-2% (Canada isn't quite as exciting as the U.S.)), but when i'm done reading NS, Jalopnik, Lifehacker, Kotaku and io9, done watching Roosterteeth, IGN, and Redbull, etc., if there's something socially relevant going on the best place to learn about it (and about anything, really) is online. i've been on NS for years now and i've gotta say you can almost tell who could do with a few minutes on Google and who actually uses it.

I dont see how you get that from that article, but it was a good read and showed some insight as to why he pursued Martin, and why he had a gun in the first place.

the problem is, when someone like Zimmerman who is tense and on edge, he isnt going to be using basic logic when it comes to firearms you need someone with a level head and that is something that Zimmerman obviously didnt have.

See, I think Zimmerman did have a level head going in. He's seeing his community torn apart by robbery after robbery committed by perpetrators that match Trayvon's demographic. That story highlights another time when Zimmerman did call the cops and they got there too late, and then the neighbor who called the cops when her house was broken into only to have the cops again arrive too late.

Zimmerman took it upon himself to take a stand for his community, that article only proves it. He took it upon himself to give his personal information to any of his neighbors who felt unsafe. Now, the night of the shooting it was unfortunate that he took his stand against some punk teenager who was just walking home.

Trayvon attacked Zimmerman after Zimmerman approached, there's no question about that. I have heard of no injuries to Trayvon other than the gunshot wound. Looking more closely at Trayvon, he wasn't the 12 year old in a Hollister shirt the media portrayed him as, but rather a full grown 17 year old football player who could easily have taken on Zimmerman. His online interactions also indicate that he thought of himself as somewhat of a thug, explaining why he would have the poor sense to attack Zimmerman.

The media narrative, and the subsequent outcry, on this case has been disgraceful. It has painted Zimmerman as a racist vigilante, and Trayvon as an innocent 13 year old.

So you're saying that he did racially profile him then? That's exactly what the prosecutor said.

Also, you said that Martin could have easily "taken out" Zimmerman, I think it's worth noting that Zimmerman was in his car when he first saw Martin so he was not in any danger at all. He decided to get on foot and confront Martin. Also, Zimmerman weighed 100lbs more than Martin, unless Martin is some sort of secret black belt I really doubt Zimmerman's life was in danger (even if we believe his version of events).

The photos that are now released of cuts to the back of Zimmerman's head look pretty minor, more like he fell on the pavement and less like he had his head repeatedly slammed against it like he claims. He didn't get any stitches which suggests to me that it wasn't life threatening.

But to your post above this about the TSA not existing, what alternative would you suggest to keep air travel safe then? Or would you be okay with no regulations and letting people bring bombs and cocaine and god knows what else cross-country in their carry-on?

I think the airlines could probably do a better job at keeping the planes safe than the TSA does and without inconveniencing so many people. I'm not one of those people who thinks private companies always do better than government agencies either, I just think in the case of the TSA, the government agency sucks so hard that we'd be better off getting rid of it and trying something new. I also think the threat of plane hijacking is overstated by a lot.

I agree that plane hijacking is overstated but then again, even if it is overstated there is still a chance. It's like a, lets say a steroid test, is 98% effective. Out of every 100 athletes there are 2 false positives which could ruin their career. 1 plane hijacking is 1 too many ya know? But that's also a small aspect of their job, they are also responsible for keeping contraband of all kinds (namely drugs/illegal exports and imports) from making it on to the flights. But yeah the TSA blows. The airlines could probably do a better job.

Obviously it's still a possible threat, but is it a threat that justifies wasting 2-3 hours of every person who flies in a plane's time every time they fly? I don't think so, but it's a tough question to answer.

As for the stopping drugs part, I think we should legalize drugs, so that wouldn't be a problem anymore.

anytime someone tries to argue both sides, or god forbid, argue FOR zimmerman, they get torn the fuck apart like they are some kind of sick racist child hating asshole.

They see a photo of zimmerman in a jail getup and say "man that guy looks like a piece of shit, i bet he'd kill a kid" then someone posts a photo of trayvon flipping off the camera and its "oh, so would you kill me too if i flipped off the camera? why does that make me guilty just because i look like a thug?"

people use zimmermans so-so past with the law and his possibly power hungry personality as a justification for why he would have attacked trayvon. but when there is any mention of trayvon being somewhat iffy and thinking of himself as a thug suddenly everyone screams racial profiling.

post a link from FOX, pretend like their news sources are any more reliable.

anyway, this whole thing is retarded. if this "child" were just one year older. he would be considered an "adult" and nobody would give a shit, and they wouldnt be able to use pictures of trayvon of when he was like 8.

if it were another black guy shooting him, it would literally get zero media attention and probably passed on as a gang crime.
