JOSS is kind of a waste for the filmers/athletes. two weeks out of your year that could be spent working on a video part and generating revenue, instead spent at a contest working for free (unless you win). JOI is much more agreeable to riders schedules and whatnot.
That doesn't really make much sense. Usually earnings are generated by winning, which is why they enter in them(among sponsorships e.t.c). If I'm not mistaken, at JOSS there is also usually JOI for the riders to "compete" in. Plus it is most of the skiers favourite event of the year which is why they go to it as skiing isn't all about winning JOSS, it is having fun with your friends (and getting very drunk) during the 2 weeks
I miss it :( I wish it was filming companies that filmed for certain athletes and then made creative segments out of it for their movies instead of for the contest.
from his perspective, it is such a bitch of an event to throw. he's gotta build 4 or 5 epic features which is hard enough to build in the first place. second, weather can fuck everything up and has. third, him and his sponsors barely get any money back from this event. and 4th, nobody will ever beat colby west's entry from the first year so what's the point.
I'd be willing to bet that the quality of life the athletes experience for those two weeks of living pampered by Jon is worth more than any revenue they could make in those two weeks.
nope. that was literally the funniest shit i have ever seen to date. i just watched again and lost at simon's interview, then proceeded to lose again for candide and pep.
