Hey Newschoolers!

ESPN has just launched a March Madness-style bracket tournament to help determine the Top Action Sports Star, and both Tom and Kaya are in the running!

Tom has some stiff competition in the first round against Travis Rice, while Kaya is up against Carissa Moore, so help them out and click here to vote...and let the power of Newschoolers be felt! :)

Dude hands down? Wallisch won everything this year, I think the lowest he has gotten in a competition this year has been silver, and that includes like 7 different comps... That has never been done (to my knowledge) in freeskiing, just crazy.

Like dude he has won so much this year, that people on this website are actually starting to hate on him because he is becoming to main stream...

Well this is a freeskiing forum, so it's reasonalbe to assume people will vote for our fellow skiers and support our ski community. Tom's had a phenomenal year and deserves the vote. I've never heard of Slater anyway. Obviously he's an amazing athlete, but he's not a freeskier. You must want Shaun White to win as well because he deserves it right?

If you press f5 a few times the ad space should disappear and the results should show back up. At least that's what i had to do earlier today when I went to vote round two. I couldn't vote for Kaya or TP until I did this.

are you kidding me? He came 7th at Freestyle CH and came 14th in Budapest.

also, if he's really top of the world right now why is he only ranked 6th in skiers alone?

Also, I'm not out to get Wallisch. I voted for him. But to say he's better than Slater presently or at any other time in history is blasphemy

Are you trying to imply that Shaun White is a better athlete than Danny Way? Shaun White is a pipe jockey that can barely compete in any other competition type (big air, slopestyle.) Danny way pretty much invented skateboarding mega ramp and he still is a great street and vert skater. Shaun is not even close to Danny.

Not really sure why I am defending shawn white, but you do realize how he has won gold in x-games for skateboard vert right? And I am pretty sure he just wont gold in some slopestyle event recently...

He is without a huge douchebag, but to limit his abilities as an athlete to just being a "pipe jockey" is not a fair representation of his abilities at all.

Haven't seen a run, but if someone wins gold at euro-x slope, not silver or bronze but gold, I think it's dumb to say he is just a pipe jockey.

Jesus. Kelly has been winning surf comps since the early 1990's. He won his 11th world title last year. Pretty sure it was on national news for a while. ESPN said that Slater has the best sports record for any sport. ever

That's right off of the website.  I looked quickly and I couldn't find anything saying that this bracket was just about current year accomplishments.  I'm not trying to instigate an argument, but where does it say that?

This. Booyah - no one is doubting that Slater is an extremely talented athlete, but we are on a SKI website and the majority of site users are going to support their favorite sport and athletes. Also, do you understand the point of this contest? "Vote in the poll at right to choose the best current action sports athlete". We're not voting for the best athlete of all-time, we're voting for the best current extreme sports athlete. Did Slater win basically every major event this year? I don't know the answer, but I really doubt he dominated the past season to the extent that Wally did.
