Hey Newschoolers!

ESPN has just launched a March Madness-style bracket tournament to help determine the Top Action Sports Star, and both Tom and Kaya are in the running!

Tom has some stiff competition in the first round against Travis Rice, while Kaya is up against Carissa Moore, so help them out and click here to vote...and let the power of Newschoolers be felt! :)

agreed, tom is sick but not a lot of athletes can compare with 11 world titles plus the amount of dedication slater puts in is unreal. none the less voted for twall anyways.

yea i know, Kaya is way more dominant, but then again she's a girl (no offence) its just the tricks arnt as big and such. MAD RESPECT FOR HER STILL, she's my little sisters idol. i honestly dont care which one wins, but knowing NS, itsll prolly be sammy tallnush

Yeah when I checked this morning White was losing by 4%. Guess there was a last minute surge of votes??

I'm pretty sure ESPN rigged the vote. He was down by 5% last I saw, (10am eastern) and there were a ton of votes in that poll too. No way he caught up that quickly. Anyways, vote for Danny Way, and honestly I couldn't vote for Twall over Slater, but I did vote for Kaya.

In no way is Tom as good of an action sports athlete as good as Kelly Slater...or T Rice. I would love to see a skier win, but I'm not gonna vote for a skier because I am a skier, I'm gonna vote for whoever is the best, and that wasn't tom.

Not sure what Slater has done but to say Tom isn't in the same league as him is pretty dumb. Tom has won pretty much everything this year and has established himself imo as the best slope skier in the game right now. If Tom isn't in the same league than no one is in freeskiing at least.

Slater's past titles should not affect the way one votes today... this is about current year accomplishments, otherwise Travis Pastrana and Tony Hawk would be winning this.  Wallisch's perfromances in the past year are incredible, he deserves the vote.

When Wallisch can be the very very top of the sport for 20 years straight then I'll say he's comparable. There are a few athletes that are just above and beyond and in a class of their own. Slater is one of them. Along with people like Gretzky and Pele. Wallisch is not even close. Yet.

Then Slater wins hands down. You can't look at 2012 yet since they've maybe done 1 comp at most and the season has barely started. So look to 2011. He was world champion. Didn't place lower than 5th, and took 5 1sts.

I'm still being a hypocrite and voting Wallisch though cause I want Freeskiing to win.
