AirForce Basic Training

In 5 hrs, i will be on a plane going to San Antonio Texas for 8 1/2 weeks of basic training. No interenet, 15 min of phone use a week and im guessing some pretty respectable heat. So excited to bust this shit out.

Youll love it. My GF's brother is in the air force and we visited him last spring down there in the big TX. San Antonio is a pretty fun place.

You generally sign the enlistment papers with your MOS listed.

I'm personally about to sign with Navy for Nuclear Engineering.

Why do they restrict phone usage to 15 minutes a week? I can understand the military not allowing internet usage to further the immersion of basic training, but the whole phone thing doesn't make sense to me.

Here's your answer.

I probably made 4 phone calls in my almost four months of basic training that totaled about 15 minutes so 15 minutes a week isn't even bad.

I just feel like limiting your outside contact with others to 15 minutes a week could do more harm than good

You can write letters ever day before you go to sleep. You're supposed to be able to pick up at anytime they need and deploy to places where contact with home is almost impossible.

Oh well I suppose that would suffice, IMO.  As long as they aren't isolating the basic trainees from society, I suppose I can understand.
