...or affected you in a profound way, leaving something inside that you will remember, cherish, respect and value for the rest of your life. Akin to the life changing music thread, movies provide us with visual impact and tone as well. A good example would be Jaws, which still leaves people scared of open water.
For me it has to be Trainspotting, without a fucking doubt. I was eight years old, watching this in my summer caravan with my cousin and be it the story, the characters, the cinematography, the soundtrack, the marvelous acting or just the overall craziness of watching a movie about thieving and treacherous junkies at a young age, this has to be it.
I have to say, I only saw this when I was nineteen. It was basically the only film that my parents didn't let me watch as a kid, and their feelings about it kind of stuck until it happened to be on TV one night. I'm glad I didn't watch it as a kid.
oh fuck soo many... the beach, trainspotting, the deer hunter, the godfather, the thin red line, shawshank
i wish i could think about what movie hit me the hardest. trainspotting had a big effect on my life even tho i didnt see it till right college- theres so much truth to the chose life or chose heroin idea
Still possibly the greatest film I've ever seen in just about every aspect. The script (Charlie Kaufmann), cinematography, sound design, music, and acting were all perfect.
Yes, a true masterpiece, and I would wish it had come out when I was younger for it to have an even more profound effect on my life and how I look at it.
hmm in terms of "life changing" i think the closest movie for me is either Waking Life or Enter the Void; both movies totally changed the way I look at the world, life and death etc
other movies that really stuck with me / had a more profound effect would be Into the Wild, Eternal Sunshine, Leon the Professional, the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and Butterfly's Tongue
If you can, instead of just posting a picture or poster of the movie, also, as many have done, explain why its important to you and how it has affected you, and possibly the way you look at life.
I can honestly say ever since I saw this movie I have completely changed the way I look at life. People say I've have done a complete 180(pun intended) in terms of personality. I would highly recommend this movie.
