So this summer my friends an I are planning on taking a trip down to moab. I have ridden slick rock, it was sick! but i was wondering if anyone knows of any awesome campspots (preferrably free/not to far off the road) but close-ish to town. We are going with chicks who aren't exactly hardcore, just going down for fun and to mess around. I've been looking and going to mill creek canyon and swimming around, and wondering if anyone has good suggestions for swimming/camping/bouldering. thanks!
Just got back from Moab and hit up Mill Creek canyon for some backpacking which was an epic trip. A lot to explore in there/mess around in. Multiple campsites in there, not too strenuous if they're up for a 45 min- 1hr hike in. Sign posted says no camping but we encountered no problems. There are no "no overnight parking signs" so it would be difficult to prove. Potash has some good legal camping spots. Just a couple miles North of Arches entrance and about 15 miles paved road drive off main road. Recommend reservations for that.
