Best way to preserve snow in warm weather?

I just gathered up all of whats left for snow in my yard and put a tarp over it in an attempt to see how long it will last for.

Does anyone have any other recommendations, tips/advice, experience about what the best method for saving snow would be? It would be pretty cool to see it last well into summer.

i heard if u get a nice even coating of jizz on top of the snow it should keep for a least a few months.

i have no experience with this whatsoever, but i'd go for a shaded spot, ie. north facing wall of your house, pile up snow and cover it with one of those space blanket things, regular old blankets, or whatever you can find, and finally some tarp to protect it from rain ...

you could even try to cover the tarp with soil if you want to go really crazy...

take the tarp off, that will collect the heat under there and make it melt faster.

cover it in pink fiberglass insulation and then space blanket to reflect heat and rain

No one's said rock salt yet?

Really, rock salt. That's what mt hood uses some years, I'm pretty sure. Can anyone verify that?

1. Reverse your tarp ie. wrap the snow in it.

2. Find a deep freeze.

3. Climb in with tarp/snow blanket.

4. ?

5. Profit?

also if you make it into the shape of a butt and pee into it it'll stay for a solid 7 or so months

Yeah this is what I was initially thinking. Its a black tarp too so that probably wont help.

I was thinking about maybe starting up a challenge on who can keep snow for the longest period of time so post pics of what you've got!

rock salt will just raise the melting temperature and it'll disappear faster. that's what they put on roads to get rid of ice in the winter.

although I bet mt hood uses it for jump take offs

Rocksalt wont help storing it. If you have it in the shade or covered in a tarp that is probably the best thing you can do (light colored tarp).

You will also theoretically want the pile to have the least amount of surface area per volume. This would be a sphere. You have to keep in mind though that the ground is probably very cold compared to the air so my thoughts is that just throwing it in a huge pile is going to be close to the best shape.

This is what ive currently got setup:
Black tarp on the bottom with snow on top covered with a blue tarp. Should i ditch the black one?

i havent tried it but from what i have heard putting sawdust or woodshavings in the snow helps. at least back before refrigerated trucks that is what meat packing companies did to keep the snow a little longer in their trucks.  other than that, keeping it under a good amount of straw or hay should help too. also, what is deep freeze?
