How does center mounting affect all-mountain?

I'm just starting to get into park skiing after years of just being a good all-mountain/backcountry skiier. My brother gave me some unmounted Salomon twenty-twelve twin-tip skiis and I was told to mount it dead center. My question is how badly would center mounting this ski affect me for the gnarly all-mountain/backcountry stuff?

Unless you race, none at all.

The ski is definitely at home in the park and definitely not ideal for backcountry. Regardless, mount recommended or "progressive" written on the ski, NOT dead center, unless you are skiing park a lot or skiing switch half the time. Progressive is only a couple cm's or so back from dead center anyways.

My Blogs chatter a bit at team center but are fine at -2 behind this point.

Hmm...nowhere on the ski does it say Progressive, it has a line saying "ski center", that's the only marking it has. Should I mount on that line?

I'd mount them center, you could go 1 or 2cm if you're worried. I ski park/all-mountain at center, I've never once felt the mount has hurt my skiing.

a lot, in my opinion. if you ski in an aggressive stance, you'll be overpowering a center-mounted ski. i prefer a -7 or -8 mount, and even -5 feels way too far forward.

Yes. It's the side cut sweet spot.

I ski 169cm k2 extremes that are mounted dead center and they work good on groomers.

im pretty sure that 2012s are symmetrical so youre going to want to mount them center regardless

it doesnt, i frankly prefer skiing on center mounted over classic or progressive.
All times are Eastern (-5)
