Long story short, after being offered a shitty rental and complaining for an hour or two, I got them to agree to pay for PART OF the cost of new boots. That's right, they lose my boots and then won't even buy me new ones. Ridiculous. I understand if they offered to pay for 80-90% of the retail cost, seeing as I am getting a new product, but they can not understand how crucial a dialed in boot is and how invaluable it is. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about, putting my foot into a boot that fits perfectly is better than sex in my opinion.
Anyways, for some reason none of the shops within 45 minutes of Canyons resort in Utah carry Full Tilts (according to the ski shop staff). I check around anyways, and they are correct. Except for one shop, which LITERALLY HAS ONE PAIR OF FULL TILTS FOR SALE. By some act of god these happen to be in my size (thank you Jesus!), but they are First Chairs and I really only fit into Booters. Whatever, I figure I will have to keep these boots for at least a year and I've grown to love Full Tilts so I get them. Guy was just as pissed at Delta as I was and even hooked me up with a deal. Got them heat molded and they sorta fit well enough to work. I skied on them today and know that they are just too small for my abnormally sized foot.
Sorry for the quick plug, but if anyone's looking to buy a pair of First Chairs in a 27.5, check my thread in BST. You have no idea how much it would mean to me. I'm literally so broke right now its not even funny.
Anyways, here's the real point of this thread: Has this ever happened to any of you guys? What did the airline do to remedy their error? Any advice for me to get them to be more accommodating?
From now on I'll always put my boots in a carry-on bag, and I strongly suggest you all do the same! Trust me, this is not a situation you want to have to deal with!
