So do marker bindings just break all the time?

Or do I have a shitty pair? I barely got to ski this winter but still managed to break my brand new Marker Griffons, twice. First time was at killington, I landed on a bit of an angle spinning off a rail and the whole heel piece came off the rail system and the ski just ripped down the mountain, im glad I managed to dig it out of the trees and didn't lose it.

Second time was just a week ago, not as big of an issue but the flat plate on the toe-piece that your boot sits on (donno what its called) broke off so my toe doesnt stay in the binding too well anymore. Looks like the skis are goin to the shop again, hopefully warranty still covers it.

it's stupid because both breaks were due to the entire binding being made out of plastic. It's a demo binding, so the heel and toe piece are on rail systems that make it really easy to adjust but they keep breaking and it has sorta put a damper on my season.

Last year a friend of mine had a really similar break with his griffon's, just due to the shitty plastic getting brittle and snapping.

Pretty much the cause to a lot of them breaking.
Low din bindings have a lot of plastic, this makes them lighter, and many kids see having a light binding as a selling point.

I've seen Markers blow up before. I had a friend have some Schizos (terrible design in my opinion) blow up from just ripping down the groomers.

It defiantly isn't the binding I'd recommend for more aggressive skiers.

i will never ski on a schizos again. fuck me those things are ruthless, just criusing a groomer back in australia, not charging at all, next thing i know, one binding has managed to adjust itself from a 316mm bsl to what appeared to be an infinite bsl. and im stuck at the top of the hill with 1 ski. awkward.

markers are fucking trash, had griffon schizos explode on me. Good thing I ski northeast, if not probably would have died. Invest in something worth while, metal.

if you're concerned with Griffons breaking, buy Jesters! I can't stand the fact that people buy a top line ski but decide to save money by buying the cheap binding

not awkward... just ski with 1 ski, it's not that hard. Marker is shitty and I broke a pair this season, I had to shred the park with 1 ski for the rest of the day(about 3-4 hours) haha skiing with 1 ski is still better than not skiing.

Griffons are plastic crap. Jesters and/or Jester Pros are the most legit bindings I have ever had.

I have a pair of Marker 11's. I've ripped the breaks out a lot, but I haven't had any issues with the actual plastic.
I find that since my skis pop off at completely random times, I can always blame my failure on the bindings. It makes me feel better about my skiing ability.

Seriously though... I will never get a pair of markers again. My parents got them for me for Christmas my sophomore year of high school, and they have been steadily destroying my knees ever since. If I had a few hundred dollars to spend, I would get some FKS bindings.

It seems like 99% of the people complaining about Markers reference one of the cheap models. I love my Dukes- stomp cliffs and drops with em and I've never had any issues at all. Dukes, Jester Pros, etc are great bindings. You get what you pay for, I guess.

I have owned Griffons, Jesters and Dukes and had a minor problem with the dukes but nothing else. But I have read a lot about Marker still having a higher than average binding failure, or people dont post hate as much on other brands...

Its not broken, thats just a feature the bindig has. When you put your boot on there is no wobbling at all ( if there is then its broken) I've got the exact same bindings and they do that, brand new.

I've got nothing to complain about markers, i've had the same 10/11 griffons for about 120 days + urban, and just got the 12/13 pair for my new skis. Havent had a single problem with them, not even with the brakes.

Personally I have only ever had minor problems with my squires and my recent purchase of griffon schizos. I am relatively light for my height (150lbs,6ft) and don't particularly have heavy landings or ride particularly aggressively. My squires that I have had for 3 seasons have never released before I felt they should have and only relatively recently they have started doing a half click in if I don't stomp in/pay attention. So I'm happy with them as a binding. My griffon schizos which I only got earlier this season have been fine again with no pre releases. My only issue was on a very hard flat landing I came out and the plastic pad on the brake (which was formerly on my squires) came off and it was just a case of re-assembling the brake right there. Other than minor cuts on the plastic from my edges there is little to no damage to the plastic itself. I'm not going to say they are the best choice for binding for everybody or say any more than my experience of them as its your bindings, your money, your choice after all and it makes no difference to me. In a thread of all negative post I felt it was worth mentioning that as long as you pick the appropriate binding for you they should be fine.

I have Griffons. I ski only park, and I haven't had a single problem with them. Granted I don't ski super hard.

Errr Jesters and Pros are still mostly plastic. A lot of the fairly vital structural parts, especially the 'pylon' the toepiece sits on, are pretty much the same through the whole range.

Markers are a funny one. I broke 3 pairs of Jesters in a season and gave up on them, yet a friend of mine who skis fairly hard has been rocking a pair of Griffons for years and never had a single issue with them.

Bought Griffons brand new this year.

11 days riding blew up one of the brakes. Rode with a tether until I got new brakes in. So far they seem to be holding up ok other than the one brake issue. I'm 5'8" @ 190 lbs and ski fairly aggressive.
