Creating dynamic intros and logo's question

so there is this guy I ski with, who wants a logo for his new ski film "company" and asked me to make it for him. Im trying to learn how to do this stuff because it looks really interesting and i may want to pursue animation in the future, and i figured some practise wouldn't hurt.

Question: Am i on the right track to be making this stuff in adobe after effects? I've watched like 20-25 tutorials so far and the animation mentioned is nothing i haven't already learned from flash. Is there a program out there thats sole purpose is creating animations and logos (something like blender just maybe a little more approachable)

yes you want to do it in after effects. its the go to animating software for titles/logos/video designs for most people (those not using something WAYY more complex/expensive)

Maya 3D is the tits when it comes to 3D animation.  Pretty extensive software that would take you a long time to learn and it costs about $3500.  After Effects will allow you to create some amazing things.  You could spend a lifetime creating cool shit in after effects.

After effects is good. people generally create content in illustrator and import them into after effects for the animation. after effects will recognize layered illustrator files and you can scale the items as needed because its vector. For 3d logo animation cinema 4d is pretty popular, but again after effects is normally used for all the compositing.

thanks for the help guys! and i will say, after effects is very hard to master and i haven't made anything really cool yet, ill keep working at it though +k to all off you
