What to say in a sponsor me email?

So I'm looking around to get sponsored but before I send out my emails with videos and stuff attached I would like some input on what to say. Talk yourself up and brag or be modest? List all accomplishments? I've never done this what do you guys think would be the best way to go about this.

that thread probably covers it, but just remember to push why you're a good rep for the company. if you're really talented but you're a dick to other kids, you're not repping the company well. you don't necessarily have to be the best skier around, you just want to show the company that you're somebody who people like and who people look up to, because that's what will make them want to get the same gear as you.

Really try and sell yourself to them. Why should they sponsor you. Give background info starting from the beginning. Then say what you are doing now. Describe all of your valuable assets but don't make anything up. Explain how you will be valuable to the company and how well you can spread stoke. Remember that it isn't about you, it is about them. Also, spend a lot of time on a really good edit. wow them. Make one that they won't forget. And read over what you have written several times. Don't be sloppy... and read that article.

i lold, do it. but seriously, you can just email companies, the way i see it is you make a dope edit, put it on Ns, let it get famous and your bound to get a hookup. good luck though on you spaansershap endeavours

Demonstrate how much you love your dirtbag life and how cheap you can be as a rider by camping outside the reps house in your sleeping bag and lean to for a week. Report accurate figures on how far you're able to stretch your weed supply during the winter to make ends meet.

Dear company x

My name is xxxxx and I have two passions in life, 1)skiing 2) murdering people who don't let me ski. I am now gonna ask you for sponsorship in relation to one of my two passions. You can either be an enabler or a preventer and will correspond to one of my two passions accordingly. While the choice is yours I imagine you would see a higher benefit from sponsoring passion number one than two.

I didnt like the fact that in the freeskier article, they said you should get too know pros, by going to camps like windells or coc. But some kids like me are poor and cant go.

make sure you send a mass email

ideally, you should forget to BCC everyone you're sending it to... make sure they know that you don't give a shit about their specific company, just getting free shit from the first company who will give it to you

Tell them what your goals are and your plan to achieve them. If you don't have goals, you're not ready to be sponsored.

Keep any sponsor me edits to 90 seconds.

Get an actual name of a person to send your email/letter to. If you send it to the "sponsor me" department you are already behind everyone else that figured out the name of the right person to send it to.

Get a reference from your local area, park manager, coach or ski shop.

If you want I can send you a copy of what I sent out to sponsors last season. For some example reads. Im not saying mine is perfect but It should give you some starting ground.

Don't be cliche, and don't be that guy who blends into the crowd. Make them remember you.

...and obviously make sure you have what it takes to be a sponsored athlete.

Lots of people will say tht you have to be different, cool guy, etc... Big companies dont give a fuck, as soon as you start winning comps, you will get sponsored easily.

Apply as a person, not a single e-mail adress among the millions

-Figure out who you're applying to. Specifically, not just the e-mail listed on company X's site
-Know how, exactly, you can benefit company X. (are they looking for someone in the youger crowd? do they need a western representaition? are they newly expanding into an area you excel at? etc.)
-Yes, unfortunately it's true, but who you know does matter. If you can get a reference from a coach, company X team member, or current sponsor team manager, it really will go a long way.
-Ask for/give a phone number. Try and meet up with the local rep. It will be much easier for a rep to help you out if they can really say they know what you're like, not just how you portray yourself.

This is what has worked for me, and some of the things I've been thanked for by reps,

Its vital that you not only sell your skiing but your personality. Now with more and more webisode series and film content going out. you have to not only be able to sell skis or gear with skiing but also with your lifestyle. Also if you have a legit filmer its definitely a plus. Means that the company wont have to worry about creatin content for ya. Hope this helps.

Tell them that you don't want to be sponsored and are just emailing for school credit so you can get the eff out of high school and do what any real man should doing...banging whores. . . Then proceed to talk about how it sucks to be told what to ski on and that even if you did get sponsored you would just put said Brand's logo on whatever piece of garbage you are riding at the time because fresh gear is lame. And of course never sign anything and insist in getting paid in south Korean candy. What I am driving at is that I think creativity counts and following trends gets you nowhere in the sponsorship game or in life.
