What kind of camera do you use?

im a photography major and i shoot both digital and film. for digital i got a Nikon D40 body with a Tokina 16-55 2.8 lens [img]http://www.buymytronics.com/products/5762_300.jpg[/img] [img]http://www.adorama.com/images/large/TN1650NKAF.JPG[/img] and for film i use a Canon AE-1 and an old school Kodak Retina IA [img]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y113/sirsteezo/ae1.jpg[/img] [img]http://www.mattdentonphoto.com/images/kodak_retina_1a.jpg[/img] what do you use?

Canon Elan IIE (EOS 50)

Olympus XA2

Canon AT-1 (currently inoperable, but I'll tinker with it and get it working sometime - it was my father's, it would be really sweet to use it again)

Minolta srT 201

Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic (one in black AND one in chrome)

And just a Hasselblad 500C/M (Picking up from my uncle's in a week)

Just curious, why didn't you get the Rokinon 14mm? Seems like you like the Rokinon primes a lot, plus it would have saved you several hundred bucks!

Oh. Gotcha. Just shot on my buddys Rokinon 8mm fish today. Pretty interesting. If I ever move up to GH2/GH3, I think that could be a perfect lens.

Been whoring it up lately, plus needed to take a photo for insurance purposes. Got the 7D saying I wouldn't want to go to full frame...but wanting a full frame is already seeping into my brain damnit. Oh well...thankfully not going to have the money to do that for a long time.

Really want to add a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (though no go if I want to go full frame down the line). At some point also going to swap out the 50mm f/1.8 for the sigma 50mm f/1.4. Maybe the 85mm if I win the lotto. We will see beyond that. My credit cards hate me.

Damn. I didn't even know you could find those for less than 1000 bucks or so now...

That said, I'd probably still take the original 1Ds over the 5D classic.

same continuous burst rate, much better AF, longer battery life, 100% VF...

Yeah, it's bigger/heavier, and gives you 1 less megapixel, but the pros of the 5D mk1 over the 1Ds mk1 are absolutely negligible IMO. Maybe ISO performance is worse in the 1Ds, but really, if you're using good glass, you're not going above 400 anyways...

Might wanna get the gh3, I quote you from a few weeks ago after using my fs100 on a glidecam... "fuck that, its way to heavy, how do you do that". You might not be able to handle the fs100 bud.

Not long ago I was working on a shoot that had a Scarlet on a Glidcam 4000 and it did alright for how quickly we balanced it and the extreme movements that were happening. If a fs100 is to heavy i think that just comes down to personal strength...with lenses and kitted out i've had a fs100 on a glidecam at around 5 lbs...the Scarlet was pushing 11.

Might wanna hit the gym if the fs100 is to much to handle on a glidecam. The guys flying the glidecam for the shoot I was on, had tired arms but they were going for good lengths at a time. This was with a battery in the side handle... on another I was on we had mine on there with a RED Volt mounted on the back and we could still go 3-5 minutes at a time rest for a few seconds and keep going...that was pushing close to 12-15. It's hard for sure but its doable.

The FS700 is a bit heavier but I'd bet it's still less than 10lbs.

Physically speaking, small cameras are worse for flying. If I were a glidecam kinda guy, I'd save up for the fs100. But alas, I'm a BC sherpa, hence the GH2.
