This summer will be my first time going to a summer camp to ski. I will be going to MHSSC. Just wondering if they're are any tips going into it, such as things you wish you would have brought, or other things. Thanks!
This.
Bring and USE a fuckton of suncreen, SPF 30+ lip balm and bag balm or something in case you do get burned. Ask for trick advice, and ye shall receive. Get on the tramp a lot, it's baller. Everyone says Friday dinner blows but it's fine, really. Talk to everyone; there are SO MANY chill people there. Don't bring weed, booze, etc. We don't like dealing with it and you really don't need it to have a fun experience.
my parents also said they would go halfsies. I saved up the money then they said I had to pay for all of it. considering i have to save for a car that's just not happening.
Bring advil/tylenol, because you will be absolutely hurting everyday.
Buy food before you go to camp, or have your rents ship out snacks to you.
Bring some extra bills because there's a bunch of cool shit when you go to Govy or Portland. Also the coaches sell their shit they from their sponsors for pretty cheap.
-sunscreen and neck tubes. I know some of these ratings are just made up, but I use SPF 100.
-no matter what, always wear gloves or liners at LEAST. I had some gnarly cuts and scrapes on my hands from falling on the morning ice because I thought my gloves would be to warm.
-bring a massive water bottle every day. They tell you this at the MHSSC orientation but some people just dont listen and you will be MISERABLE without it.
-if you have seasonal allergies bring allergy pills. All sorts of pollen and what not is floating around, I get at least a small cold every time at camp.
-Bring some extra money, you will probably go to the mall at some point if you are staying multiple sessions and even if you dont then government camp is stuffed full of cool stuff and food that you will want.
-The MHSSC food is all great, except the enchiladas.
Wrong. Don't bring anything. Like I said, NO ONE ON STAFF LIKES DEALING WITH THAT. It just sucks for everyone involved. It sucks for you getting blacklisted and not being able to work there or come back ever, it sucks for staff having to be the bad guy, it sucks for your parents, and, most importantly, it sucks for our image. So leave it at home. You can go a week or two without it. If we see it, we will do something about it. It's that simple.
He's excited about going to camp, it's that time of year and stuff changes all the time. those threads might be dated. What if everyone followed the searchbar rule? We would have to rely on 10 year old threads because some bitter fucks like you can't handle a repost.
You come off as a douche telling him to use the searchbar. Obviously there are other threads. I'm saying they're all old as shit and we need more new threads and less pieces of shit like you.
Probably some sort of list for MHSSC too. For Woodward I tried to practice trampoline as much as possible, get fit for hiking, if possible try to get used to skiing again(ie summer ste up, snowflex set up, rink sessions, any snow near you.) Also come in with some goals and a positive friendly additude and you'll have a great time and make friends.
